I want them off!!!

#1 Post by BraceFace2115 »

5 months in and the novelty has worn off.... I so badly want these braces off! I've got 6 months to go and I'm dreading it.
Just had an adjustment and he doubled the powerchains.... It hurts so much! My gums are itching, it feels so tight, it hurts to brush and eat!
Feeling down about the braces and really can't wait till there gone!!
Is this a normal feeling? I was always so positive but I've hit a brick wall!!

Hang in there!!! What you're feeling sounds totally normal. Just remember you are doing a great thing for yourself and the lifetime results will be so worth it. Also, ibuprofen!

I hear ya. Every few months I get very frustrated. My original estimate was 30 months but my impacted canine is taking so long it will easily be longer. Just remember you're not alone and you even have it easier/shorter than others.

I feel you! I am only a month in and the thought of two years with these things in my mouth is a nightmare! Hang in there though, all we can do is think about how great it will be when they come off and how beautiful our smiles will be.

I experienced the same despair. I so desperately wanted my braces off -- especially when I was a metal mouth on the dating scene! Hang in there, and I PROMISE it'll be worth it in the end!

I think you are normal. Really, really normal. I am at month 32 of a 24 month plan, and I have had your feelings on almost a daily basis so some degree or another. An elastic refuses to land on the hook and snaps me. Or snaps when I yawn in a meeting and I'm certain everyone in the room noticed. An arch wire starts sticking me. Seeing pictures of me with braces and cringing a bit. I'm with you, I want them off!

Ha, 3 days in and I'm already over this! Too much thought going in to eating and cleaning. My honeymoon period lasted a few hours. I need an attitude adjustment. Thank goodness for this board :)

Honeymoon period?

I think my honeymoon period will begin when I bring the archwires home in a Kleenex. :D
