Braces are ready to come off, but I'm not happy with the outcome
Hi, i've had braces(Damon) for about 2.5 years now. My teeth needed a lot of moving/shifting and I currently am missing 6 teeth congenitally. I was a unique case. I went in today to the Ortho and I had impressions done for a flipper. My braces are supposed to be coming off in a couple weeks, but my teeth just don't seem right. I STILL can't touch my top or bottom molars on my right side and when I smile, my teeth on the right side on top are ascending. Another worry I have is my top two teeth ( upper right 1& upper left1) are not aligned with my bottom two(lower left1& lower right1). My Ortho said today that everything was looking really good and I was ready to get my braces off, but I am really having doubts. I just wanted some insight on how others felt about this after looking at my picture.

I can see the vertical discrepancies between the left and right side of your bite. Have you said all of this to your ortho? Specifically spelled out each of your concerns like you have here? If your case is truly unusual then there might well be reasons that this is as good as it can get, but I personally wouldn't accept that before the ortho explained why, for each issue.

your top set do seem to appear to drift off more to the left and I can see how that's affecting your bite potentially.
Have you mentioned this to the orthodontist?

When I go for my next appointment, I am going to mention it. Maybe there is not much else that can be done, but before they come off I will get an explanation as to why I spent $6,500 and my smile is far from perfect. If it is what it is, I will just accept it, but I won't be terribly happy after all this time and money spent not to mention the money ahead I will be spending for implants.

Do you have a before picture? It's quite hard to imagine with no comparison that your teeth is ready for debracing.

Sorry, I don't have a before pic. It seems hard for many friends/family I've talked to. They all say the say thing. My teeth need to come down more. They tell me my smile looks completely off kilt. I guess I'm just going to have too see what the orthodontist says on the 19th and if there is any viable reason for debracing.

While I do agree with you, giving that you have a lot more cosmetic work to be done after, perhaps this is as good as the ortho can do? However, if you don't feel that the outcome is up to your expectation, you definitely have every right to question the treatment.

Have you worn rubberbands on the right side to pull your bite together? That's a good option to get your bite down. I would definitely talk to your orthodontist if you are not completely happy with the results.
