New. Excited about braces, and dealing w Anxiety about it.

I'm 26 and I've FOREVER hated my smile. I have a huge fear of the dentist. Soo after much pushing from the husband I finally went in to get all my treatment done, so I can FINALLY get my braces. I needed 6 cavitites filled. And 2 anterior root canals. Which gives me the most anxiety. Since they are my front teeth I feel likee they might fall off. Even tho my dentist (which is SUPER great about my anxiety) says they are perfectly fine and no need for a crown now. I also got 2 extra teeth I had removed and all my wisdom. I have upper over crowding, my lowers are pretty good. I haven't gotten braces on yet. I'm waiting for the finance to go through. But I got a great price and timeline is from 18 to 24m. Soo hoping for 18 lol.

Welcome to the board and congratulations on making the decision to get started. Our timelines seem very similar and before you know it, you will be done with braces already. I'm already one month in to my journey and can't believe how fast time has gone.

Yes I'm hoping to get them on within the next 2 weeks. I'm soo excited to start! I'm just waiting for the phone call!

congratulations to your decision of getting braces. Did your finance go through already?
I think we have a quite similar story. I also have plenty of filling, root canals and crowns. My dentist tries to talk my out of that entire braces thing. He says my teeth are too weak already and so on. Do you face any special problem now regarding your fillings/ cavities with the braces on? Did anybody tell you whether there is a risk concerned with that?

Yes financial went through. I've had the top ones since May 28. Bottoms June 24th. Going good so far. They said my root canal teeth are pretty strong. So we'll deal w crowns or veneers when I get them off. It's my 2 front laterals. They said crowns aren't really needed usually. So I'm leaning towards veneers just cuz I'm scared of discoloration. But I've had lots of progress. At least I think so for only having them a month. As soon as I figure out how to post pics I will!!

OK, thats lucky. Most of my root canal teeth seem to be really weak. Two of them broke and had to be crowned already. And the others dont seem to be much better off according to my dentist. But I'll see what the orthos say. Get the feeling that my general dentist is kinda against braces anyway
