Hallelujah!!! I have my de-bracing appointment scheduled! In 11 days I will be braces free!

I think it probably would have been this week, but I had a small space open up on my lower arch (go figure, the area where I have needed space this whole time). They put a powerchain on my lower arch this time for the first time, and it closed up the space before I even left the office. Powerchain on top too (with no o-rings), and powerchain on bottom (with o-rings only on the front 4).

They did my impression of my lower arch for my permanent retainer, and they said my de-bracing appointment would last about 90 minutes, and then I will come back at the end of the day to pick up my upper retainer.

Now that it's almost here, I am not sure I am ready! Getting nervous about how my teeth will look and feel, and also getting anxious about having the permanent retainer and adjusting to how it will feel.

Awesome news! It'll feel like an eternity the last few days but you'll make it no prob haha!

Take lots of photos for your own memories. I took a few before debracing day and now it's been 5 months ago since having braces and It seems strange to see my face with braces!

Congrats and I'm looking forward to your debrace day and am excited for you to have your new smile! Seeing your new smile for the first time in the mirror is a neat experience.

Good luck braces bud!

Congratulations on being so close. That's crazy that the powerchains worked so quickly on the gap. I've heard they hurt a lot though.

I am NOT a fan of the powerchains, but they do work!

Thanks maple! I can't believe I only have 5 days left now. I keep thinking I will go in and he will say - oh nevermind, not ready! LOL!

I am starting to worry a bit about retainers, but hopefully (like the braces) I will adjust quickly to those as well.

That's the main thing right?! I'll gladly accept them if it helps with the end result. If you're going to do it, you might as well do it right.

Retainers are awesome compared to braces. The first few days take some getting used to though.

Just wear them, teeth move insanely fast as the bones and tissues around the new teeth position haven't re-adjusted. It was about 4 months after braces that I didn't feel them move a whole lot. I wouldn't recommend eating hard chewy foods for at least another couple months. ..just my experience.

You'll be fine! Can't wait to see your final result.

Do you have a permanent retainer also? I am having a bit of anxiety thinking about the permanent retainer on my lower arch, only because I am super sensitive to anything being on the backside of my teeth. I can't even stand to feel any residue from food on them, and am obsessive compulsive about brushing my lower front teeth so my tongue doesn't have to rub against any plaque. I'm concerned about that mostly, that I'm used to not having anything there for my tongue to feel. LOL.

Yeah I have permanent on top and bottom also. They're mildly annoying for the fact that cleaning is really precarious and food builds up really fast and flossing is worse than braces. As far as retention goes with permanent retainers I feel they don't do a very good job, for space control they are great...for alignment, arch shape and height control they suck. I had to get a lower removable to keep my teeth from moving out of place.

Definitely would ask your ortho for removable upper and lowers.

Amazing transformation! Congratulations. Your top and bottom arches have came a long way. If you think about it, that one tooth stopped your braces from being removed a long time ago. But it was worth it to finally see it rotate. I have only been in braces for 2.5 months and I sure was glad to see my rotations were finished when I arrived at my first appointment which is every 8 weeks. Next up for me is gaps. Power chains and tops and bottom with square wires already which I though was weird. But hey with a sentence of 19months. I don't mind finishing early. Congrats once again and I'm excited to see your final results.

Do you find that you adjusted to the permanent retainers fairly easy? I seriously am worried about getting used to feeling with them.

Thank you! You have a very short sentence! Awesome! Sounds like you will be done in no time.

Well not really, whenever my removable retainers are out my tongue is constantly going over the wires.

If you don't like having permanent retainers after a while there's always the option of removal. I will probably be getting mine removed in the near future.

Good luck with your braces removal tomorrow!!!
