If you don't like having permanent retainers after a while there's always the option of removal. I will probably be getting mine removed in the near future.

Good luck with your braces removal tomorrow!!!
Thanks, that is what I hear from everyone I ask...that they eventually get them removed. Doesn't make me very excited about getting them. LOL.

1 hour from now I'll be getting called back for my removal. I'm having some anxiety!!!

But also excited!

Ha! I'm brace free!!! Woohoo!!!

I'm happy to report that my recurrent nightmare where my teeth popped off with the braces did NOT come true!

They whole process of removing them took about 90 minutes including the photos and impressions and the bonded retainer on my lower arch.

It was not nearly as bad as I had built it up to be in my imagination.

My teeth feel huge and the white spots I've had my whole life from fluoride drops as an infant are sooo much more noticeable now. It's kind of discouraging.

However, I'm going to do some type of treatment starting today to help blend the spots in so my teeth can potentially look more even toned. I go once a month for 5 months and also will have something I use at night with my retainer.

I go back this afternoon for the first treatment and to pick up my top retainer.

I am 40 and get mine on Monday. Very nervous and wondering if it will be worth it!

Beautiful result! Congratulations!

Your 'before' looks a lot like my husband's teeth now -- which is probably how my kids' will also look in a few years if we don't do Phase I braces. It's good to see that such a nice result is possible. The natural shape of your individual teeth is really lovely!

Definitely possible, my top arch moved quickly, my lower arch was what took the longest and really just one tooth was stubborn there.

Thank you for your compliments!

Thanks!!!

I feel pretty naked without the braces! It is an odd feeling. My teeth still feel obnoxiously large to me! I think the first treatment to even out my coloring went well. He is only treating the top middle 4 teeth, and one has already evened out with the first treatment, and then I slept with the paste in my essix last night also. That is encouraging, I go for 5 more treatments in his office for that.

The essix is ... annoying at best. I only have to wear it while at home (12 hours a day), so I will put it in when I get home from work and wear it through the night. I thought I would never get the thing out this morning. LOL. I think it mostly bothers me where my lower arch touches it, it's like feeling plastic in your mouth that shouldn't be there. Maybe if I was wearing it on upper and lower it wouldn't be quite as awkward for my bite?

The bonded retainer... well.... it is driving me crazy, it's like I cannot stop rubbing my tongue against it. :yuck: He told me if I don't adjust to it, he can remove it and give me an essix for the lower also, I am going to give it a month and see how I feel about it.
