Getting my braces tomorrow

#1 Post by kbh75 »

I am getting my braces put on in the morning. I am turning into a big baby about it. To think, it is something I have needed and wished I could do since I was a teen and now I am second guessing myself. No backing out now I guess. :)

We've all been there, myself included. I also got my braces when I was 40 (after putting it off from my teen years as well) and I was also all worked up about it the night before. Don't worry...it really isn't that bad.

Thank you! This makes me feel better! I know I will survive and doing this is in my best interest both physically and psychologically. I guess I am just nervous about the pain. If kids can deal with it so can I! Haha

I've had my braces for 2 weeks now and have yet to experience any real pain. I too was really worried too but it's honestly not that bad. SPACERS were the devil and 10x worst!!
Crimes: overbite, overjet, spacing, mild crowding :-*
Sentence: 21 months :gavel:

I got nervous too, not even knowing i would get braces on the day that i did (the 11th was my consultation appointment, but then they offered me braces on the same day so i got everything done within like 4 hours time), but i knew i couldnt back out because i wasnt dealing with relatively minor problems like i had when i was 13 (braces weren't really an option because fsmily lacked the money), honestly its been smooth sailing until Friday night when i was chewing soft food slowly and had really bad pain, but it got a lot better in only 2 days.

The only reason my teeth were so sensitive again was because one tooth rotated really quickly and took up more space than it used to, but believe me when i say that, when you know you will start seeing obvious progress the pain is a small price to pay
Lots of crimes here

1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars

2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29

3. Open bite

4. Upper midline left of center

5. Lower midline right of center

6. Upper and lower teeth not straight

Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.

Braces removed since 11/06/17

Good luck for tomorrow. I remember being really apprehensive (or excited, it's hard to tell) before getting mine and barely slept the night before and looking back it's really good to have that level of excitement as it soon gets really boring!

Well I only got the top brace on Monday. My ortho said that I seemed nervous and he wanted to focus on comfort until I got used to it. Honestly they have not hurt at all. I feel pressure but I can deal with that. I dread the bottom ones because he said I would need bite blocks and elastics. I worry about not being able to speak clearly. I have a very public job. At any rate....I survived! :)
