Haha. They are a light purply pink colour at the moment! I was going to get silver but the orthodontist convinced me other wise.
I would post a picture but it wont work

Yay! Good for you! I always think adults should get colors. Might as well have some fun with these things since we have to have them on so long! Before long you'll be wearing bright blue and hot pink and all kinds of colors
I honestly think the look of braces is the last thing to worry about. It;s not like it's a new thing, everyone knows what they are and I don't think they make anyone look less attractive at all.
I was actually excited to get braces cause i knew i was getting my teeth fixed! :D
i was just kinda weary about my braces lisp
but even the lisp isnt as noticeable now so you definitely get used to it (and it'll get better in terms of looks and lisps)
as for making your braces look less 'ugly' it all depends on perspective
a good example being my mom and sister giving my braces a grimace every time they see it vs my friend whos envious of my ''super cute braces'' haha
if you want to make your braces less noticeable, i'd recommend getting pastel colors like light blue or teal
dark colors can make your teeth look whiter but it also draws more attention to it
I'm a 39 year-old guy and I agree about the silver ligs. They're my favorite. I've been alternating between silver and "pearl" colored ligs. I'm finding the PEARL ligs aren't as noticeable and almost give off the appearance of ceramic braces. And I haven't had any issues with them staining. The pearl ligs also don't really show much in pictures.
As far as the look, I agree with an earlier poster. Treat them like a fashion accessory. As far as I'm concerned I have a really cool "GRILL". LOL
P.S. I'm so tempted to go for blue ligs one of these months. Hmmmm...decisions, decisions. LOL
I went with the loudest pink I could get my hands on this month, in preparation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month next month. I'm glad I did because I have power chains that are super bright and manage to cover the marks they made on my archwires yesterday.
I got my braces last September when I was 23, and I always knew I wanted color but I was weary of colors that would make my teeth look less white (I am obsessed with the shade of my teeth). My first ligatures were a sapphire blue. Then I got lilac, navy, violet, aqua (my absolute favorite) and now I am on hot pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Have some fun; what's the point if you play it safe? I'll tell you this, I've met a lot of people who have braces on and they always say they wish they hadn't chose silver or clear when they see my bands. Good luck and have fun!
I am 42 and got mine 3 weeks ago. Had the same and was worried what people would say as I have a missing front tooth.
Luckily my ortho put a fake tooth and attached it to a bracket with metal ties. Only issue is the initial wire is small so I have to be careful as it moves when I eat. :-(
