Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your help. In the picture below, I was wondering if someone could provide insight regarding my maxilla. I understand my mandible is recessed, but was wondering if it is worth it to undergo upper jaw surgery. In other words, is my maxilla greatly recessed to the point that surgery would provide a great improvement in my appearance?
Thank you again.

It's kind of hard to tell from just that pic alone, but to me I can't see how your upper jaw is recessed. How is your bite? If this is something you are worried about, go seek some opinions of oral surgeons in your area.

Your maxilla looks fine to me. But what is necessary for your case? That's more than an aesthetic judgement, and it can only be answered by an actual licensed professional. (As in, not us anonymous yahoos on the internet...) Consult with one or more actual orthodontists and see what they say. (They may or may not send you to an OMFS during the consult stage...)

I can't tell you exactly if you need surgery or not. I think it'll be best to consult an orthodontist / oral surgeon. However, I do think it seem recessed and you'll benefit from jaw surgery. (Just my personal opinion). Other than aesthetics concerns, do you suffer from any jaw-related problems? (Tmj issues, breathing issues etc) I myself am considering surgery as well and is evaluating the pros and cons with my orthodontist. Get an xray and seek consultation from professionals ! (-:
