Hi! I'm new here

Hello!

I just got my spacers yesterday, in prep for (ceramic) brace placement on next Tuesday. My mouth hurts. :( My husband says the spacers hurt more than the brackets/wires themselves. True for you? I must admit I do feel a bit silly going into the ortho with all the teens and such. Will the pain last the whole week until the spacers come out?

Spacers are definitely the worst part. The pain might last the whole week, it might pass after 2-3 days. It just depends on how your teeth move and how you tolerate pain. Use whatever you would take for a headache to help with the discomfort of spacers.

And don't worry about what the teens think when you're in the office with them. Just tell them to wear their retainers or they'll be in your shoes one day! You can also be an awesome example for your own children with dental hygiene and proper care for braces if they need them.

I personally had zero pain from my spacers, but I've read on here that many people experienced pain with them. Best of luck!

It's much better... but still hurts to eat. :( Hoping brackets and wires don't bring too much more pain than this and that I'm able to enjoy Christmas dinner!
