HUGE let down, friends.

I am feeling so depressed at the moment! I went to my ortho and he said my midline and right bite not correct as he had thought t would be today since my last visit 2 weeks ago.

:(

I remain in chains literally and figuratively. I so wanted to think I could have freedom today. It was not to be. I cannot believe it. While my doctor asked me what I wanted to do, I don't think I had a choice.

I am moving West in 3 weeks. Now I have to locate a new ortho for removal. I left the office with a frown and with my Harley retainers in a case. My ortho didn't offer to refund me cost of removal--something I'd discussed when I met him day 1. I knew I would relocating so I knew it was a possibility I would need to transfer my records...and prorate his fees. He said it was done all the time with patients.

And to think it was sunny all day until,I left the office for the drive home. Fittingly, it is now grey and overcast as I type. Stay tuned, I am not going to jump into the naked tooth forum anytime soon....

So sorry to hear that you're not debraced! But, I guess it is good that your orthodontist wants everything to be perfect so that you won't regret it down the road. I'm sure you'll find a good orthodontist after you move. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your teeth get in the right positions soon!

The Braces have been debonded! Free at last!

I decided after 2 weeks of double banding myself to correct my bite that I was good to go. My ortho didn't disagree this morning so the braces have been removed. It feels great! I am happy with the results! The process took about an hour. The snapping of the brackets coming off was indeed sensitive and painful...but this didn't last long at all! They were off before I knew it in one big string of wires and powerchains. Yuck! Scraping the glue off was not painful.

The retainers (Hawley) feel comfortable and I have mastered to art of removal and insertion.

It is difficult to talk as it will be for awhile...here are my final results! What do you all think? Was I premature???

Your teeth look fantastic! I think they look great. Congratulations!

My midline will be off when I am done. When I first had my consultation,I told my orthodontist what my concerns were with my teeth and that I really didn't care around the midline. I didn't want to be in braces any longer than I had to be.

Good luck with your move West!

Congratulations! Your smile looks great!!! :jump:

I'm not too far behind you-it looks like my debracing will get scheduled at my next appointment at the end of January. Hopefully I'll get my braces off sometime in February!!!

Here is a shot of 4 months post brace removal. I still wear my retainers night and day. I will be wearing at night only in June. My teeth no longer feel 'loose' as they did initially. I do feel I don't have my bite perfect as eating some foods (Ike sunflower seeds) causes me to bite my inner cheek. Overall I am pleased with the final results. I will be gett my teeth whitened in a few months.

Good luck to all of you as you continue with your braces travels!
