LOOKING FOR BRACES ADVISE

#1 Post by baileymuscle »

Hi. I had braces put on and when I close my mouth, the top and bottom braces touch at my back molars. Is this normal? I'm afraid to close my mouth or chew or sleep thinking that the braces back at the molars will break.

It depends; braces aren't super fragile. But you definitely should call your ortho and ask him, since he knows what your exact situation is and we don't.

my front teeth touch the top of my bottom front braces. Definitely annoying! I feel your pain. Give your ortho a call and ask him/her if there's cause for concern. Better safe than sorry!

I had that same problem! About a week after I got them on, I ended up biting one of my brackets off in my sleep! I ended up getting "bumpers" put on some the bottom teeth. They worked great! They were like these squishy pads that went over the bracket similar to a ligature. You might ask about them!

It's common. As teeth move you bite differently at times every few days. Just warn your ortho that you are biting brackets. That way if it does break they are less likely to charge you if you informed them it was occurring.
