Hey everyone,
I'm 22 years old and since two weeks ago I started with my braces journey (2-2,5 years of braces, including a upper jaw surgery).
Since Wednesday, the orthodontist a TPA, and it's killing me.
I finally figured out how to eat with it and speaking isn't the problem, but the TPA is hurting my tongue a lot :(
Are there any tips to make this less worse? Because I will have it in my mouth for the whole 2-2,5 years..
Another question (which is maybe a little bit off the topic above, but I'm interested in the experiences. Because I can't find that much information about it yet ;)): Is the TPA in the way/noticeable while kissing?
Thanks a lot :)!

Re: TPA tongue pain and
I feel your pain! I had a TPA for just over a year and the damage it did to my tongue... wow! I have had it off since November last year, and I still have grooves/cuts in my tongue. There was a period where I could hardly talk, eat or open my mouth due to the bar ripping into the flesh of my tongue. I constantly pushed the bar up the root of my mouth as much I could every single day and once it was finally moulded up there, the pressure was removed from my tongue. You can try wax, but that didn't work for me. I just had to push through it. It does get better... eventually. I just hope you don't end up with the same issues I had! Good luck!
Update
Oke, I went to the orthodontist last tuesday, because of the pain. I mean the grooves in the tongue were really bad and the TPA was constantly touching my tongue also.
So When the orthodontist (other one than normal) saw my TPA, he said that it wasn't made to the form of the roof of my mouth and that it was too small....
After he changed the wire, it felt like a relief and the figure in my tongue is almost gone (luckily :) )
@millie23 thanks for the tips ;)
