Thanks for the reply. Yes thank goodness for the payment plan. I keep telling myself it's not normal to have a missing tooth, or a popping jaw, yes I should fix my mouth! I guess I am just used to it. Do you find the ceramic top braces to stain?
My brackets have never stained, and I love tea, coffee, red wine, and turmeric! I've had a power chain on for a week and have found very quickly that these things do stain it pretty easily but considering I've gotten used to avoiding certain foods and eating in certain ways I can forego a bit of red wine and curry while I have the power chain and make sure to have plenty of water. I have to stress though the brackets are still as white as the day I had them put on!
That is very enouraging!! I love my ginger tea, hopefully I can still drink it. Especially since I'm on a liquid diet for now.

Re: nervous
Wow thank you for all the comments and encouraging stories. I went through with it yesterday and am on day 1. Feels pretty strange. Pain and tenderness is definately kicking in. Teeth feel almost loose in a way or maybe that is just tenderness. Brushing is painful and flossing is out of the question. I am trying to avoid touching teeth, that sucks when it happens. But no pain no gain! Thank goodness for my nutri bullet so I can get some nutrients to soak up my pain meds. Took today off of work so I can get used to this a little. I am speaking pretty much normally except for some S and F words. Very grateful for that. I am dreading the day the elastics go in though.
Djspeece, I did read the sins thread and it was too funny! Hurt the insides of my lips smiling big!

Re: nervous
Hope you feel better the next days. This is, what it makes my worry to make myself being in pain unable to remove the braces and have to stay with them the next years. I was told to have 2 extractions and braces for 2.5 years. Now I only wear a bite plate at night. So this is easy without a real discomfort.

Re: nervous
My NutriBullet is my best friend especially as I have some food intolerances. Upside is you'll probably shed some weight. Lol. There's another thread on here about what everyone puts in their smoothies if you are stuck for ideas. Well you did it. Good for you. Congratulations. It is so weird at first but at 8 weeks in I'm nearly starting to not be sooooo conscious of my mouth bling. Keep us updated on your progress
Re: nervous
Mrcf: It is a confining feeling that we are stuck in these contraptions and can't do anything about it. But it will be worth it in the end!
Lovelyteeth: Thank you! I'll look for the smoothie thread!
Day 2. Took off of work again due to the pain and tenderness. And feel guilty for doing it, but I have 21 vacation days accrued so I shouldnt feel bad, I never miss work! Hurts to speak because my mouth is getting sores. Wax helps but I'm trying not to use it to toughen up my mouth. My main concern is I am unable to chew of course so I have only had my nutri bullet smoothies. Since my tummy has had no solid food in it since Tue, the Tylenol is upsetting my stomach. It's a vicious cycle. Ortho said not to take ibuprofen as it slows teeth movement. I have painkillers for my migraines but terrified to take those on an empty stomach. I think I'll get some mashed potatoes and soup today. Also very painful to floss so I can only do certain teeth. It's about impossible to thread floss through my back teeth, my cheeks won't stretch that far. I want to keep them super clean though. I'm hoping day 3 will be better not worse, but I don't think that is how it works.

Re: nervous
Keep up the good work. However, your cheeks will toughen up even if you use wax. Don't be stingy with it. You have enough to deal with.

Djs, you are great. Very supportive to many of us. Thank you, putting wax on now!

Re: nervous
Everybody is different, but I was using wax several times a day for the first month, went in for my first adjustment and now I'm not using any. Turns out I had a wire poking into my cheek and just assumed being a braces newbie that was normal. I've only been in this a couple of months, but every day I think a little less about the braces and more about day to day life and looking forward to my improved bite and smile.

Re: nervous
Tyrantblade: Thanks for asking! It was as brutal getting them on due to my extremely sensitive teeth. Day one and two are a little rough, I'm so hungry. My smoothies aren't that filling to handle my pain meds so it's been painful. Having trouble flossing between some tight painful teeth. Never imagined flossing would be such a battle! I havent made too much of an ass of myself yet in public. No one cares, everyone on here was right. Hopefully tomorrow my cheeks will get tougher and it will be a smoother day pain wise. But it could get worse on day 3 I hear. How do you get the dates and tracker on the bottom of your comments? I'm so clumsy on this site because I just use my phone.
Re: nervous
Ziggy: Good to hear it gets better. I can't tell if this is wire or not. It's in the same spot as my wire. I tried moving it with an eraser because I don't want to go in yet. We'll see if it gets better without the wax.

As for the graphic with dates in everybody's signature, you go to Tickerfactory.com, make one, and then add it to your signature, its pretty easy to figure out

Re: nervous
Hang in there. It is all new and it takes some adjusting to but like someone said before me at 8 weeks in I'm not thinking about them all the time and am getting back to life. I can't take ibruprofen either so get by with paracetamol. I took it pretty much daily for the first 6 weeks. Try gargling with salt water as this helps with the mouth sores. It is fine to do that a few times a day. My teeth were sooo sore and I got by with small pasta with different sauces and swallowing it without chewing. Scrambled eggs and yogurt are some other ideas. I also made soft meatballs and cut them up small so I didn't really have to chew. I also don't have brackets on back two molars so I cut up soft food and chew with these teeth. It will get easier. Try and relieve your pain and the time will pass.
Re: nervous
Just offering support. I have had mine on for a month and the first week was really bad for me. Like, really bad. I had braces as a teen and I did NOT remember it being like that. Day 3 I think it was, I was at my sons tee ball game and I had forgotten motrin. I felt like my teeth were falling out. I could feel my heartbeat in my gums. I was almost in tears and feeling silly because I was thinking "kids do this all the time!"
Day 6 it was like someone flipped a switch. I still have trouble chewing properly but I can thank the bite bumps for that (cement build ups on back molars to keep be from biting down on bottom brackets) and cannot see myself biting directly into anything yet. I rip food into pieces.
Of course I just had my first adjustment today, so I am sure I will be sore tonight.
It will be worth it, and we are all in this together.
