Ah no! Never watch the videos lol!! It's like being pregnant and watching one born every minute!! Nope!!!
You will be fine, just remember that this is all short term discomfort for long term results. Take pics too, that helps as you see the progress xx

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Has anyone found something to use to make it look like there are no teeth missing? I have two HUGE gaps and i'm so self conscious about it. Like some kind of temporary fake teeth while the new ones are being pulled down?
My problem is the orthodontist has chains hooked up to my teeth under the roof of my mouth... So there are chains hooked onto my braces right now trying to pull my teeth down.

I had pontics hanging on the wire over my gaps while waiting to be ready for exposure - but they weren't able to keep the pontics in once my adult canines were getting exposed. The chain would be in the way.jewelcandy wrote:Has anyone found something to use to make it look like there are no teeth missing? I have two HUGE gaps and i'm so self conscious about it. Biggest mistake I ever made but I was so curious!
Thank you! I had the surgery about 2 hours ago. I felt horrid an hour or so after but after taking a couple of pills I feel a little better. It was not as bad as I imagined and the Gum Specialist was very gentle and nice.
I had bone covering one tooth where the other tooth roots so that one tooth took a minute but the other one was smooth sailing.
Just focusing on after care now, because I really don't want to mess it up.
I hope it doesn't take too long... The gaps really do look huge at the moment and I have an equally huge smile/mouth ;)

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
It's been a week and I healed quite nicely.
No infection, no pain at all I am pleasantly surprised.
So I will be seeing the oral surgeon on Tuesday for him to give my Ortho the go ahead to re-start adjustments. So far so good, I hope the good luck continues.

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
I am 15 years old and I had my bottom right canine exposed at the beginning of June (2016). My tooth was horizontal in my mouth. I've had braces for 15 months before the surgery and I am only supposed to have them for a total of 24. Should my tooth come up within that 8/9 month span? I'm worried I'll have braces on longer than I should because I do not like my braces one bit and I'm afraid the tooth won't move and I'll be stuck in them.

@BELGENT
I think your tooth may come down within that time frame. It all depends on the person and situation but almost everyone I have had a conversation with about impacted teeth says teen years are the best to have it done. Your teeth will align better because you are young and so mush faster. A seventeen year old guy I started my treatment with had his exposure last month and the tooth is all the way down now.
Us oldies are the ones who have problems.
I say give it time and don't stress too much.

Update: Just got my sutures out. The Surgeon was pleased with the healing and I am just laughing at myself wondering why I was so scared.
He said one tooth is already peeking out, he could see it shining and it could be a matter of 2 - 3 months. Which is all Yay!!
But the other one is a little bit higher up and rubbing against the root of its neighbour so he is a bit worried about that one. He did however still say he is sure it will come down... Just needs more pushing and pulling than usual.
Now all I need is to get them both activated, which can only be done beginning of July. But am glad for a little more healing time.

Thank you UltraViolet. I know it will take time but I am so ready to get these braces off and this one tooth is what's holding me back. But since that post, my last stitch has finally fallen out and hidden beneath it was the crown of my tooth! I can see it just beneath the gums poking through and I could not be happier. Hopefully this process goes by quickly. Not only for me but for everyone else dealing with it too!!!
Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
hello everyone! i have an impacted canine and i just started treatment today. my ortho says i won't have the surgery to attach the chain and bracket for a few months so i'll just getting used to the braces life for now. my oral surgeon was confident about moving my canine so that's good. he said that i'll have a spot of numbness in my palate due to cutting a nerve in the area and my mom freaked out but i was okay haha. what has been everyone's experience with that?
Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
If my gold chain has more links coming through my gums does that mean the tooth is moving or is it just the wire or something?
Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Belgent that is a good sign that your tooth is on the move!! I freaked when mine first done it as it almost moved about 3-4 links within a day!! Good stuff xx
Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Ditsy - My chain had 3 links sticking out already after the surgery. My fourth link just fully came through and I can see the fifth chain poking out just behind it. It's been about a month since the surgery with one appointment so far to activate the chain. Is that considered "good?" I'm so worried about this tooth even though I am young and it should come in quick, I need all the reassurance I can get!

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
@Mountain, I had some bone covering the tooth that was exposed but luckily escaped nerve cutting as far as I know. The procedure isn't that complicated though so I would not be too worried.
@Ditsy and @Belgent Ugh. I just can't wait for mine to be activated too!! I just want to feel something. I hope it goes as smoothly as yours seems to be going. I really think your tooth will be in place in no time @Belgent, I am telling you, it seems to move surprisingly fast for younger people. Rest assured.
I have my activation on the 11th and it seems ages away. My gums have healed so well, I am a control freak and I know I will be asking the same questions you are asking now...

yeh it sounds good, mine was pretty fast moving. It's all kind of slumped a bit now though, I'm waiting for them to straighten all my teeth back into place very little movement. Xxx
