Nearly there!

Went to the dentist today and he confirmed they are now perfectly in line. So he finally removed the big composite blobs on the front of my teeth and took impressions for my retainer and bleaching trays. Danni, the teeth whitening is discounted for anyone who has bought the inman aligner at £75 per arch so I paid £150 today - not bad really!
My only thing now is that one of my front teeth is now much longer than the rest of my teeth. He said he will shape them up nicely so that they are all level, I was really hoping this would be done today as I go to Glastonbury tomorrow and that was my aim to be completely done by then but he said he didn't want to shape them just yet as he still wants me to wear the aligner at night until my retainer comes and he wants to leave the composite blobs that are underneath my teeth in place until then.
Can't complain really, i'm happy I only have to wear the aligner at night whilst i'm at glastonbury, i best not get too drunk and lose it :) xx

Ahh that's good! At least they're straight for glasto even if they need abit of shaping! So you went with the removable retainer?
Ooh bonus! I was expecting to pay the £200 - very pleased with that discount!
Weird Q but when u go for check ups do you wear your retainer? I'm thinking if he has to check it then I wanna sterilise it and have it all fresh for them checking it. But I don't know whether they would rather see it in to check its right?
I never rang or emailed just thought I will wait. And randomly got achey teeth again n felt tighter again. And now nothing again. Must just be diff pressure as teeth move n IA touches diff parts of your teeth. Il still mention how it seems loose at next appt xx

Hi Danni,

When I have a dentist appointment I soak my retainer with retainer bright for a good half hour then I dont put it in my mouth until I am entering the dentist so that it is still fairly clean. I don't suppose it really matters as he just tells me to take it out as soon as I sit down but I worry I will get shouted at if I go walking in without wearing it haha!
Have you noticed any more movement yet? Yes definitely tell him if you feel something isn't right. He had me waiting an hour in the waiting room today I had to go out and put extra tickets on my car! They had all worked through their lunches again, I don't know how they run so behind on appointments there! x

 Hi guys

Sorry I haven't been in touch. Had emergency gallbladder removal surgery on Thursday last week :( currently lay down at home trying to recover.

They struggled incubating me and therefore scraped my front tooth with something so it doesn't feel smooth now :@ also worried that they may have dislodged the fixed retainer. Made a dentist appt to have it checked out but can't go in a car for a month :(

I'd definitely recommend the fixed retainer. It took me a while to get use to but it makes everything feel cemented in place. The night time one is cumfortable but I still wake up feeling like I have a dirty mouth/haven't drank for a month. X

Yes noticed loads more movement over the weekend where it suddenly felt achey again! So it must be working just in a strange way.
Exactly - feels like walking into the headteachers office without the correct uniform! He might be mad! Ha.
They're always Sooo busy aren't they, worked in my favour last time cos I was a few mins late. I park in a car park bit up the road where it's £2 for 2 hours.

Oh no becky sorry to hear that. Hope you get well soon!! I wouldn't worry about the retainer at the mo you don't need extra stress just get better and that can always be fixed when you're back on your feet.
That's what I worry about the removable feeling unclean/dry like the IA does through the night! Looking forward to being done with IA for that reason. So don't wanna then have it with a retainer for years xx

Oh my god Becky that's horrible news! Sounds very painful too! Hope you make a speedy recovery and are having lots of time off work resting. Arrgh i'm still so undecided about the retainer maybe I can have a fixed one put on one day if the removable becomes too much of a pain! Love wasting money me!

As anybody used a dentist called Charisma Clinic in Stockport for this treatment? They have an offer on groupon for £695 per arch but i have also seen that Dentist On The Rock in Bury have the offer on too and have seen you girls mention that dentist on the previous few pages. Do you think i should go with them instead? Did any of you do it through the groupon offer?

That's a good point - if we hate removable ones can always go back an pay for another fixed ha!

Hi, yes me and Claire both go to dentist on the rock. I rang up and paid direct and I think Claire did the same. I wanted to know I was suitable for the aligner before buying the group on so rang up and told him I was about to buy it but could I come n see if I'm suitable first. So they let me go for a ten min consultation then I paid direct after having impressions an everything done.
Claire has mentioned further up about her bad experience with another place called pure clinic so I would personally go with one that people have used and have had good experiences with. And I can't fault dentist on the rock so far.
I've not heard of the Stockport one so can't advise on that x

Also Paul, I have seen some on group on saying £695 but they don't include a retainer. U need to make sure everything will be included.
We paid £695 for Inman aligner/all appointments/filing/retainer. Whitening is not included in the £695 though - we will pay extra for that at the end x

Hi Danni,

Thanks for the reply. I would definitely rather go with one that people have used as i am a bit sceptical anyway with it being so cheap so i will give the dentist on the rock a call later when i get chance. Were they fairly quick in getting you a consultation sorted? I'm very intrigued to look at all you guys pictures of your progress and post a picture of my teeth at the minute but can't yet until my username goes green on here!

I was exactly the same! I'd looked at pure clinic offers on groupon for like two years (it always came back on!) but had a bad feeling about it. And when I rang up they were really pushy an stuff so I got a bad vibe. Then when I spoke to dentist on the rock n went for my consultation I had a much better feeling so went with that. Then seen Claire's story on here about pure clinic being a rip off an dentist on the rock being good. So I would say go with your gut.

They weren't quick getting me in. Waited just over a month I think it was until they could get me in for a consultation. Then I had to book another appt for impressions which they couldn't get me in for another month for. When booking impressions appt I booked an extra one 2weeks later to pick them up. So I would recommend booking more than one appt at a time cos they obv have more appts in advance. Now I only have to go back once a month so easy enough to get a monthly appt.

To be fair to the dentist I am restricted to after work times. If u are more flexible u will probably find getting appts easier. There is always day time appts available but I can't take them.

Haha i was the exactly the same! I've seen that Pure Clinic on groupon for years but always thought it sounded too good to be true but then found this forum and the recommendations for dentist on the rock. Did you just mention the groupon offer when you rang them up and they honoured it?

I work nights so daytime appointments are perfect for me! I'm in Sheffield though so it will be an hour or so to drive over there

Pure clinic kept ringing every day after I rang up as well! Asking if I have decided to go for it yet. Was alarm bells so I never went for it n I'm so glad. Loads of people talk about it online - they went bust n everyone lost their money/got stuck with the brace on! Cos that was a fixed one not an Inman aligner.
Yep I just said I've seen the groupon and want to buy it but worried I won't be suitable. And they said I could go in n see if I was suitable for free then pay them (I think it's better for them if u pay direct anyway). I'm sure you will get appts easily then if you can go in the day. Like I say, I'm not flexible at all, I'm a teacher so can't leave work. Does seem a long way to travel though I'd see if there is anything closer to you. Especially if u went for a consultation an wasn't suitable u would've travelled for nothing. I suppose after the initial consultation/impressions/fitting it's just one appt a month so not too bad.
