is going through an airport with braces weird/awkward?

Im going on a 1 week vacation next month (visiting family in another state) and just wondering if going through airport security will be weird/awkward.

I mean obviously i wouldn't be detained, but do braces clearly show up on their scans, or do they wonder what it is, or do they not show up at all?

I flew lots of times when I had braces and nothing weird ever happened when I went through security. There's not enough metal in braces to set off the THIS IS SPAM PLEASE REPORT TO THE ADMINISTRATOR. I've flown several times since I got braced, and I wondered the same thing at first...but no, nothing happens!

I dont think it will be awkward, many people have braces. It is perfectly normal having braces at any time of your life, other people don't think about it.

And it won't show up on the body scanners if you go through one of those instead. (The body scanners can't penetrate skin.)
