Was having braces a bad idea ?

I have braces on for 2 months and 8 days and I started to think Having braces was a bad idea.

the initial issue with my teeth was the gap between my front upper two teeth, the teeth were close from the bottom only ( v - shaped ) . my orthodontist suggested to increase the gap between the teeth and then try to close it again.

the gap started to increase and they are no longer V-shaped. but my upper 1st molar now started to incline inward. I told my doctor about it. and he said he will fix it but didn't do anything , he kept changing the wire in each visit and the teeth around the 1st molar became painful.

He said he needs more 4 months for increasing the gap. and I am so frustrated.

I am starting to worry the 1st molar and started to think I might finish with more problems than I start with.

Can the molar be fixed with the bracket in the same place on it.

Fixing the tilt of teeth won't happen for many months; that requires the rectangular wires, and you are almost certainly still using the round ones. (The rectangular wires will engage the sides of the bracket slots to rotate the teeth. FYI, this process is slow.)

Its a step by step process, you should trust your orthodontist and have patience.

Things often get worse before they get better. Think of it this way...they need to move all the teeth out of the way before they can put everything back in the proper order and position. Not quite that extreme, but the concept is the same. Shift things around, create some space, then realign everything where it needs to be. Stick with it. I've had a huge gap open up between my lower left canine and the premolar behind it. Eventually all the teeth on the right will get shifted to the left to both close the gap (and the similar one on the mirror side) and to realign my bite on the right where right now all the molars land on top of each other instead of staggered. Time. Time. And then some more time.

I would continue the treatment, as your dentist probably knows what he is doing. I hope that you get your wanted end result!

Your thoughts are normal and I had them for a long time after I was braced. My bite went from not-so-bad to "how many creative ways can I find to eat and not look like a cow" sort of thing. At first the insults come fast and furious: sore cheeks, sore teeth, speech issues; then throw in elastics (I still recall practicing in front of the mirror in the ortho's office, much to the amusement, I'm sure, of the other patients and staff); then new gaps, etc. There are a few people here who had a marvelous experiences with braces, just happy to finally be getting their issues corrected and being very mature and adult-like. I was not one of those people. At some point soon you'll probably stop noticing all the hassles as much and believe it or not the braces will become part of your identity. I know that is a hideous thought at this moment. You'll realize others don't care, either. I had an excellent ortho but he was quite circumspect when I would ask about my progress "Well you're getting there;" "Yeah you're a little behind schedule" (A LITTLE? -- I HAD AN EXTRA YEAR, PAL.)

I put my trust in my ortho and he did a great job; I had a few challenges from the get-go (extractions, bone graft) and along the way (stubborn gaps). For the latter, he liked to smile and say "Well Dan, I guess some patients are just more dense." Orthodontic humor.
I was debraced last October after three years. As things go, it was not the worst thing I have ever endured. That distinction belongs to my ex-wife . You will get through this and you will be happy that you did. But I warn you -- after all your suffering and little humiliations with braces, NO ONE SEEMS TO NOTICE WHEN THEY ARE REMOVED! I know, it's a sad commentary on the human condition. Get a few more gray hairs and someone is delighted to point that out. Shoelace untied? OK, well I am glad people notice that. Remove 10 pounds of hardware from your mouth and no one comments? ARE YOU PEOPLE BLIND?

Braced 6 days ago and regretting every moment of it. :( Been holding on to calling my orthodontist to remove them!

I totally thought that the minute they removed the plastic cheek retractor contraptions and I felt my mouth close in around all the sharp little Lego like studs now stuck to all of my teeth. "What have I done?" And now I'm sitting here with my mouth closed and I can't really feel anything unless I move my lips or cheek around.

Yesterday I went to my orthodontist and he said my pre-molar was 180 degree rotated :| and it is not moving as expected and he removed the bracket from that pre-molar. and left it without anything on it.

I am hanging in there.
