Is Le Fort I Osteotomy Associated With Maxillary Sinusitis?

#1 Post by underbitewars »

I just ran across this journal article, which seems to indicate that there is an increased risk of sinusitis after Lefort I osteotomy.

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/ar ... 9115013695

They conclude that CBCT scans and the SNOT-20 questionnaire should be used routinely during postoperative monitoring.

Have any of you discussed this with your surgeon? I shouldn't be looking up this stuff after my daughter has already had her surgery. I'm getting freaked out, particularly since the surgeon said he had never seen an upper jaw as thick as my daughters and her maxillary sinus cavities are smaller as a result.

My surgeon will be doing septoplasty as well as clearing out my lower turbinates when he raises my palate. I'll discuss further with him this month.
