Extractions?

#1 Post by CharlesTX »

I have to get 4 pre molar extractions as apart of my ortho treatment but I was curious to as why my orthodontist didn't have my premolars extracted before putting on my braces? He wanted to wait for two adjustments and then we would extract the teeth. Any reason why they would be pulled after putting on the braces?

It could be so that the teeth have loosened up, so that they are easier to extract. My extraction dentist told me that while I was on the chair. I had my four premolars extracted before being braced and had a nance installed to anchor them.

That makes sense, I didn't think about it that way. I can feel that they are a little loose. I couldn't wrap my head around getting them pulled after than before being braced.

Maybe he wants to see how the teeth will move so to be sure the extractions are compulsory.

This would be my guess, and if that's the case, then that's one very judicious orthodontist. I'd be impressed.

I got four premolars extracted shortly after my braces were put on. My ortho just didn't put any brackets on the teeth that needed to be extracted.

He did say that he wanted to wait to see if they needed to be extracted but then the plan changed when he put the braces on. He did place the brackets on the teeth to be pulled. Maybe I misheard him when the brackets were being placed? I had some nerves when I was getting the put on.
