So when do you notice things start changing?
Its only my second day in braces, lol, but I am curious....what types of things do you notice first, and how long doesn't it REALLY take to see any type of changes? I'm mostly just feeling pressure now, but honestly, I really wonder how the braces actually work since they're just 'sitting' on my teeth right now. It probably sounds silly, but I know exactly what I mean. LOL!!

I think I started noticing changes in the 1st week or two, and at first I didn't really like what I saw and was a bit freaked out because I tooth was in mid-rotation and I didn't even realize it was crooked (i guess it was 180 degrees turned, so it looked normal to me).cocomacd wrote:Its only my second day in braces, lol, but I am curious....what types of things do you notice first, and how long doesn't it REALLY take to see any type of changes? After months my bite started coming together and just feeling better/more correct.
As for how braces work, the wires apply force to encourage your teeth to move (the brackets are sort of an anchoring point and their placement helps determine in what ways your teeth move); while this is happening your gums and bone supporting your teeth break down and then regenerate (not on such a large scale level as to cause you to see it or for anything to go wrong, more of a cellular level you can't see), they keep doing this in cycles and the adjustments make sure it can keep happening (otherwise the cycle would stop and so would progress)
Lots of crimes here
1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars
2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29
3. Open bite
4. Upper midline left of center
5. Lower midline right of center
6. Upper and lower teeth not straight
Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.
Braces removed since 11/06/17

Also early wires act on memory and eventually return to the shape they started as, in doing so they are good for moving teeth up or down a lot in the early phases and then fine tuning happens later in treatment.

I didn't notice anything until my first adjustment when they brought up the pictures of my teeth. It was like the changes happened so incredibly slowly that I just didn't notice them. It's unbelievable, actually.

I noticed changes straight away. I could literally see changes overnight. Then the changes aren't as obvious as they happen behind the scenes so to speak. Now I feel like I don't see any change at all. Lol

I noticed a change in about three weeks. It happened when I was eating and I could feel my teeth bumping when I would chew my food. I took a look and I could see the changes that took place. They moved pretty fast!

Re: So when do you notice things start changing?
I'm 3 weeks in and have noticed quite a few changes already - my upper 2s sat partly behind my front teeth. The one on the right is almost out from hiding already. The one on the left has much further to go but it's definitely starting to shift.
My front two top and bottom teeth also now bite together which they didn't previously. I have my first adjustment in a week so I'll be interestd to see what the ortho says.
Seeing changes early on is helping to motivate me through the discomfort and hassle at the times when I question why I'm doing this!

Re: So when do you notice things start changing?
Its day 4 for me and I feel some changes but not sure whether they actually are or just a feeling . I feel gap in my upper central incisors and flossing has become easier for them.
Also due to both upper and lower bonding my molars stopped touching each other so the dentist put some pink stuff n my upper molars that now touches my lower molars and prevents me from grinding. But initially only the left side stuff touched and today I can feel both pink stuff touching my bottom molars.

Re: So when do you notice things start changing?
I'm in my first week of having braces, and I noticed a slight difference a few days in. I ran my tongue across the back of my front teeth and noticed that it felt a bit different. I took a picture and compared with a photo from day 1 and saw that one of my front teeth has made some slight movement. If I didn't notice the difference in feeling with my tongue, I honestly wouldn't have noticed it in the mirror (it's that slight). But hey, I'll take it! :)

Re: So when do you notice things start changing?
I'm 3 weeks in with ceramic and am already noticing some changes. My bottom row is straightening out and I can feel some looseness in those teeth as well, if that makes sense. Unforunately the photos I took were deleted so I can't properly compare, but I'm excited to see how my first wire change will go. I can't wait until the top row starts to move.
Re: So when do you notice things start changing?
Today only in my lower arch something was changed, a new configuation for the powerchain and a few hours later i am already starting to bite a bracket
When i first got wired i started noticing lines of stains on my teeth that had always managed to avoid cleaning because of crowding

Re: So when do you notice things start changing?
5 weeks in and I've noticed that my bite keeps changing and I have a very tiny gap between two teeth that I didn't before. It is not very noticeable at all and it feels like my teeth have barely moved, but random teeth keep aching so I assume something is happening! I have my first adjustment next week so hopefully things start to speed up a bit.
