Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!

Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
That's great news Jmax84! I'm dead jealous that you can bite into cheeseburgers! I can eat pretty much whatever I want but I can't bite down on my front teeth, I have to either cut or break everything up into bite size pieces! I can't wait to get my braces off & sink my (new very straight!) teeth in to a big fat juicy fajita wrap!!!!
Good luck & hope they come off soon!

I'm in six month smiles too... although mine are going to take about 9 months or so. I'm one month down (as of this coming Wednesday), and I still can't eat normally. I fantasize about the day these things come off and I can eat a burger/steak... ahhh. Cannot wait!
Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
You'll get there. It's gone pretty fast for me, i'm getting my bottom braces off tomorrow! I'll probably still be in the uppers another two months or so (too scared to ask for am estimate- but got them put on 2 months later than the bottoms). It seems like such a chore and an incovenience, but once they're done you'll soon forget what a pain it was and it will all be worth it.Lux wrote:I'm in six month smiles too... although mine are going to take about 9 months or so. Congrats on getting your bottom braces off tomorrow! That's fantastic, I bet it will feel so good once they're off!
Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
well now that my teeth are moving again, there is no more cheeseburgers for me :( lol but thats ok, its been easier just to cut up food and eat it that way instead of trying to bite into it. at the rate my teeth are moving they are never stable enough to really bite down...ah well! so far i'm very happy with the progress of my top teeth, i'm hoping they will be where i want them by my appt in january, but if not i'm definitely getting the top ones off in february! my bottom ones are taking alot longer cause of how crowded they are, i'm really just waiting for two of those teeth to move into place, so hopefully i can get those off by the 6 month mark (definitely no later lol...i'm getting used to these things but they are still annoying as all heck!)
Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
Gosh, I am so glad to see that there are more people with 6 months smiles!! I did not research it properly before gettin them done almost 2 months.. Well I'm really happy right now, even though it was pretty bad at the beginning.. Just kept reminding myself that beauty comes at a price of me suffering.. Ahh funny enough my teeth do not hurt at all right now, I even wish they would so I would know they are moving.. Hmm I'm really hoping for less than 6 months, still feel quite self conscious, especially with Christmas and new years coming up..!
Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
I have to say that because of the movement I have had I smile so much more than I used to (and that's with the braces still on!)
Now I'm getting used to them the braces bother me less when smiling than my wonky, gappy teeth!
Can't wait to see what they look like when finished!

Yea! Me too, you would never ever see me smiling in a photo before and now I just don't care about it anymore! Weird how much influence braces had on my life!

Hi All
I hope that you are all well ).
I have just had my six month smiles braces fitted, this is my first full day.
I have to admit that i am finding it all a little bit odd and i am concerned that it will not be able to fix my misaligned teeth, but we will see ).
I had the braces fitted because i have just had my remaining baby teeth removed and one of these was at the front, so i am hoping that the six months smile braces will be able to fill the gaps and move the teeth far enough.
I am 35 btw ).

Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
Hi, I got my Six Month Smile installed almost two months ago, and they just pop off all the time, I was driving home the other day from getting them all reattached and two of them popped off before I even got home. just from me playing with them with my tongue. I'm really nervous that this isn't going to work and I don't know what to do. The reason that I got these things is because I have an underbite and when I went to the dentist he said he could fix it with six month smile, I guess I should have done more research. I had them all reattached last Thursday and by the end of the weekend 6 had already come loose I'm not sure what to do.
Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
I would call around for an orthodontist who can assess your situation and evaluate the braces you have, including whether or not the 6 months smiles program is actually right for you. From what I understand, this quick fix is meant to straighten front teeth and make them pretty. Not to fix bite issues, and an underbite is quite an issue to be dealt with. Do you have crowns on the teeth that the brackets are popping off from? Cavity fillings that extend to the side surfaces? I've read that these two things make it difficult to keep brackets adhered and they often need molar bands to stay put.Hermandshaw wrote:Hi, I got my Six Month Smile installed almost two months ago, and they just pop off all the time, I was driving home the other day from getting them all reattached and two of them popped off before I even got home. just from me playing with them with my tongue. Either way, though I don't know what payments arrangements have been made and handed over yet, with an underbite I highly recommend contacting an orthodontist. As you're still early in your treatment it might not be as difficult to switch providers. But be prepared for full braces and a much longer treatment time.
Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
I just had my six month smile braces installed yesterday, my mouth is pretty sore at the moment and it's really frustrating to try and eat. Some of the stories on here have really picked me up and I'd love to hear the outcomes if any of you are still active on here. Like another poster on here mentioned, it's really tough having them on just before Christmas and New Year - this time of year (for me at least) is all about food!
Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
Is brackets popping off directly related to it being 6-month smiles? Aren't they maybe just not being attached properly?

Re: Brace Newbie - Six month smiles!
do you all recommend six month smile? Im very conflicted as many people keep saying six month smiles/fast braces messed up their mouth. Wha made you all decide to do this instead of traditional braces or other?
