metal braces - views re composite bonding when removed

#1 Post by T1braces »

Hi everyone. I'm Tracey and 11 weeks in to treatment with full metal braces. I'm let's say a 'mature' brace wearer. I have triangle shape teeth (especially my top two front teeth). I know I'm jumping the gun but has anyone any views on veneers or composite bonding re covering black triangles when the brace is finally removed.

I am considering that option -- I've been out of braces for 16 months, and the triangles were not bad to begin with, and with time, and I think some gum movement, are even less noticeable. My orthodontist thinks composite is a good idea -- I also have some minor gum recession that my dentist wants to do as well. I had to have two crowns placed earlier in the year so have blown through my flex spending for the year, so I will probably wait another year.

That's a good point - cost. Porcelain veneers are £700 per tooth and they will need renewing at some point. I am happy to have straight teeth but not too gappy teeth (as gaps were not what I started with. I do fancy having them whitened when finished too. I best get saving up now !

Interesting to know you had some slight movement with the gums & felt the gaps less noticeable with time tho
