I've had the procedure done twice. The first time I also had my wisdom teeth out at the same time, soooo.... let's not talk about that time, that was awful. The second time, I had the procedure done around lunch - took a nap a while after getting home - and felt well enough that evening to have a (single - one) beer at my local brewery (skipping the pain meds while drinking, and really this isn't advisable with being on antibiotics). So wouldn't recommend the beer part as that's bad advise, but I really felt fine that day. The next few days, generally sore, but went on with my normal routines.
I'd asked the oral surgeon in advance on if I could have a beer that night considering I was having anesthesia, and he'd said yes - just to keep it to a small volume. So if you do partake, I'd say ask whoever is going to be doing any anesthesia. As far as feeling well enough to be social, you should be fine.... probably won't want to take any selfies, mine was pretty bloody/gross, but physically/pain-wise I felt fine enough. If you're getting anesthesia though, I'd have no way of knowing how you in particular react to that aspect.
