2.5 hours in adult braces - should I not be in pain ??

#1 Post by RUBELRUBEL79 »

Ok, I am 37 and had Quick Straight Teeth system fitted this morning at 9.30 on my uppers only. I have very over crowded teeth, and hated them for as long as I can remember ! So finally did it !!! I read loads about it before today, and everything that I read was saying that you will be in pain. But I have none ! A tiny bit of an ache, but nothing else ! Is this normal ? Have they tightened my wire correctly ??

I didn't really have pain the day I got my braces on - just awkward feeling. I got some soreness after a few days (as well as sores inside my cheeks/lips). Hopefully you stay without pain!

I'd say wait till tomorrow and see how you feel. I got spacers put in, and I thought, "This is easy!" Not pain at all... until I woke up the next morning.

Everyone kept telling me that I was going to feel like I got hit in the mouth with a baseball bat, but it never did. I think next time will be worse because they're putting on a thicker archwire.

I didn;t feel any pain till about 4 days later. Now the mouth sores, lord, thats a whole different story. But, I can;t handle much of that, so I am sure you will do great!!:-)

I have been in braces for nine months now, and I've yet to feel anything that I would describe as being "pain." Discomfort? Maybe. But not even discomfort really. Just a certain tightness but it doesn't feel bad necessarily. I'm a wimp when it comes to pain, too. So I'm pleasantly surprised.

Fine now ! My bite has changed so my back teeth don't quite meet, but no pain now , third day really sore cheeks and my lips were all puffy , but used a bit of wax overnight so all settled down now. Hope everyone is getting on ok with theirs !! Easier than I expected , but then I only have the top ones on :-)

I experienced the same thing as you! First day was a breeze...second day was when the pain hits. But now the pain's gone for the most part. It will all be worth it in the end...we just have to stick it through!

I got mine March 323rd they moved a lot fast so I've been in extreme pain off and on. My first adjustment is April 28th so I hope it won't be as bad. This week has been the easiest so far. I can't believe how going from week 5 to 6 has changed my mouth so much! Excited to see what happens if they change my wire!

My orthodontist told me I would be in pain 6 hours after fitting and to take pain relief. In reality I was fine. Some discomfort but I wouldnt describe it as pain. I'm now on day 3 and still just slightly uncomfortable feeling in mouth. Inner cheeks starting to hurt from rubbing now though. I hope I'm not getting ulcers.

My teeth are pretty much straight but I got braces to close my gap. First 2 months I felt absolutely nothing which concerned me b/c people kept telling me "if you feel pain then you know your teeth are moving". NOT TRUE. When I went in for my 1st adjustment, my orthodontist showed me the before and compared it with that visit and my teeth were moving. Now during the 3rd/4th month...I experienced tons of soreness/tenderness (change in wire/power chains/elastics) but never pain.
