huge gap in front teeth
I have 6mm gap in my front teeth. I have a wedding coming up in about 7 weeks. I want to smile confidently for pictures and reception. I have read avout those teeth effects bands, but I think my space may be too big to use those, not sure. IT seems like it would probably leave spaces on the sides once the fronts come together which may look nearly as bad. I only consider it because it is extremely cheap and quick. I would do what ever is going to get the results, even if I have to take a route that cost a few thousand(which I probably will have to end up doing) like veneers or bonding. I really want to fix my teeth naturally with braces, as opposed to a bridge or veneer, but I will do what I have to do. If I get braces, I would probably want an alternative to front, metal braces. Are lingual braces just as effective as front metal and have they gotten cheaper? If I got Invisalign, how quickly would they close a gap my size? Also, since I am mainly interested in closing the gap, do dentist commonly put on partial braces or put braces on just the upper row of teeth for half the price? Does anyone know about SureSmile braces and their cost? One last question, what is the typical down payment on $5000 worth of braces? Thanks all.

I have a gap in my front teeth which I measured to be about 5mm. I'm on day 3 of Invisalign. You can view the pics I have up so far... http://imperfect2invisalign.blogspot.com
I don't think you could get Invisalign in the next 7 weeks. If you did, you would only be on the first set of aligners by the time of the wedding and it wouldn't make much difference. I've read somewhere that they only like to move teeth 1 mm every 8 weeks, so that would be 48 weeks to close a 6mm gap. I would be surprised if they could move them much faster, like in half a year. I'm no expert though, so you are better off seeing an orthodontist.
BuddyC: Congrats on getting married (assuming it is your wedding). Apparently you are marrying someone who loves you just the way you are or attending the wedding of someone who loves you just the way you are. I would suggest that you don't worry about your gap and get braces when the time is right for you. The quick fixes will most likely cause you serious problems later on.
I put down 25% on my braces because I chose not to have them financed. Putting down that amount gave me the option to pay my Ortho directly each month instead of going through a bank.
Good luck!
