Does anyone know about an orthodontist in a country near India who can reopen extraction spaces like Dr. Hang?

I had braces + 4 premolar extractions. I want to go for reverse extraction orthodontics. While it is being practiced in California by Dr. Hang and other areas of America, it is still not practiced in India. But I still wish to have the treatment. Tell me if you know of an orthodontist near India with experience in reopening extraction spaces.

Hi Kitty, I am so sorry that you are in this position. I can completely understand your desperation. I am undergoing a reversal at the moment and I had quite a few consultations. Are you close to the UK? This is not an easy process so most orthodontists will be reluctant but I can give you a list of orthodontists who take on reversal cases.

Sure unhappycamper!..I'm considering going abroad for the treatment anyway, so I would like to know about as many orthodontists as I can who take cases like these.

Hi Kurtis. The orthodontist will have to use sagittal appliances to move the jaws forward and create space. Many "functional orthodontists" are trained in using these appliances and have the expertise to treat reversal cases. I would try to look for a functional orthodontist in your area and email to see if they have perform reversals previously, and ask them if they don't if they have any recommendations for orthodontists who do. This is how I found a number of doctors who take on these cases.

Yeah, I did search and found that there are no functional orthodontists in India. So, that is why i'm asking for any functional orthodontist in the world who handles cases like these. By the way, thanks.

Unfortunately I have had to get reversal treatment outside of my country. The expense has been enormous but my face was completely destroyed. It is up to you to decide if your situation is worth visiting a specialist abroad. I suggest getting in contact with https://www.iaortho.org/contact/ (International association of orthodontics). Ask them to send you a list of functional orthodontists or recommendations. You can email or do a Skype consultation and see if they can help. Get ceph scans, pictures and x-rays to send them.

Hi, reopening extraction spaces is no magic, and what dr. Hang does is no magic. But still, it can be a tough procedure.
You have to do your research. Look for really good orthodontists, one that has done much research, is professor at university, or has a good resumé, etc etc.
Opening the spaces is really not the problem, just find a really experienced professional that will do it for you. The problem is: it might not be possible, not because its not Dr Hang but because the lower jaw is extremely hard to expand, and it is very hard to create the space since you cant move the molars back ( no one can do that, and mr hang cant do that either, is like a law in orthodoni). I also thought i have to fly out to see dr hang to do this. But i then just contacted the best doctors in my country and asked them about that, and i quickly found out that it isnt magic. You just have to be a little bit lucky since its not always possible to create the space you need.
