#1 Post by Smiley23 »

Im on month 2 of self ligating braces braces (if the kind matters) im starting to notice gapping in the bottom. Not like super gapped tooth gapping but enough that i can see it and put my plackers flosser end thru it. I had 4 pre molars removed prior to braces. Is this normal?

I had very crowded teeth before braces and developed gaps while on rectangular wires. My ortho put a power chain on my front teeth to keep them together.

Totally normal for spaces to open up where they didn't exist before. Things will get shoved around into those spaces and they will eventually close up. I had tons of space open up between all my lower incisors and I was pretty freaked out for a bit. Now, either 24 hours or just a couple of weeks away from debonding everything fits nice and tight, neat and tidy.
Braces for 18 months/4 days.

Yes it's normal. I'm 6 weeks into ceramic braces and around week 2 i developed a gap between my two front teeth at top. This closed by week 5 and I can see that my teeth are now straightened out so I assumed its because they were moving into place :)
