Hi all
I’m new here.
I am a 25 yo male. I had double jaw surgery on 10-12-17 to correct an underbite. I currently am rubberbanded shut and recovering day by day. My swelling has gone down remarkably and I honestly look 1 month post op, but it’s only been a week.
I am concerned because the past 2-3 days I have been sleeping kind of on my side, but with the pressure being on the top of my face/head. I have been sleeping with 3 pillows. I am very paranoid that I could have moved my jaws by doing this. My face looks and feels fine. I’m just a very paranoid person. I see my surgeon in 4 hours but I figured I’d post here. What do you guys think about this? Should I be worried? I stopped icing a couple days ago because the swelling has gone down so much I really can’t believe it.
Please advise me guys. I am just a worrying person all the time.
Thank you so much.

I seen my surgeon and it’s all good.
Thank you
Thank you

I’m also worried about the side sleeping. What did your surgeon say? Is it ok to sleep on our side? I’ve woken up sleeping on my face and my jaw aches afterwards. Not sure if I’ve done damage...

Re: Double jaw surgery-SLEEPING
Should be fine, michgrand. Just do your best not to and you'll be ok. There are plates and screws holding your bones in place and a little gentle pressure won't change that. That soreness when you accidentally slept on it is normal.

He said I’ll be fine.
It’s mostly to avoid more swelling because when you sleep on your side gravity pulls all the fluids etc to one side. 19 days out and still back sleeping.
