Lingual buttons?

#1 Post by catteethidk »

Just heard of something called "lingual buttons" which apparently go on the back of your teeth? They sound pretty horrible, but all the information I've been able to find is about "lingual BRACES" which are an alternative to the ordinary kind?? I have regular braces with a power chain by the backs and coil springs right now and these lingual buttons sound nasty, kinda scared I might need them. Would someone with regular braces get them, does anyone know?

They are no big deal, just a small bit used to attach a rubber band. I had one to attach a cross bite elastic to a molar. It was nothing really. Here is a link to another Archwired contributor's post showing her bottons with elastics:

Lower braces on March 11, 2015, upper braces added July 14, 2015.
Damon, metal bottom / clear top.
Braces off March 26, 2018: Total time in braces: 3 years, 2 weeks and 1 day.
Hawley retainers top and bottom.

Thank you - I don't have rubber bands yet, really hope I won't need them because those lingual buttons still sound pretty nasty. I looked through the post and what was that terrifying giant metal thing that seemed to be at the roof of the contributor's mouth?? Yeah really hope I won't need anything like that, tried to enter with a positive mindset and braces so far have only proved far worse than I expected.
