Hi everyone.
I joined this forum, because after 15 years of puthing it off...I'm getting braces. Tomorrow.
I'm 26 and I have an overbite and bad jaw issues. I'm not sure if I'm getting a full set of braces tomorrow, or just the tops because of my overbite.
I'm a planner girl so I have tried to gather all the things I could need. I have a waterpik, silicone earplugs (for cheek protection), brace specific mouthwash and lots of soft food and chapstick.
Anything else I might need? I'm hoping my orthodontist gives me a toothbrush (I'm paying him enough...).
Well thanks for letting me join your community, I've learned a lot already!

Maybe some pain relief. And I’d get a toothbrush just in case.taimeinhappy wrote: Anything else I might need?

Congratulations, you seem well-prepared and in a good mental state. You'll probably be a bit underwhelmed with the bracing process -- I was expecting some high drama -- but it is fairly fast and routine. Some people take some ibuprofen (with food) 45 minutes or so before bracing to head off any discomfort (I got powerchains immediately as well, as I recall) but probably isn't necessary in all cases. I didn't take any. My main issue was the shock of seeing my mouth full of braces! I thought I was prepared for it, but it was still a bit of a surprise, at least psychologically. Yes, I have issues .
You'll do great, and best of luck to you.

Floss threaders and/or flossers for braces (I had to order from Amazon as I couldn't find them locally -- my orthodontist gave me a few). Using a Waterpik is great to get gunk out of your braces, but you still need to floss to get up under the gumline.
Sounds like you are well-prepared. Best of luck!

I hope everything went well for you and that you are now adjusting easily to life with braces. I think you're pretty well-prepared already, but I second what EmilyTravels said. Get some floss and floss threaders. It's important to floss to get rid of the stuff that the Waterpik might have missed.
