it's nothing to fear.
Its like after a workout and your body is sore. To some that's a good thing, physically and mentally proves that somethings moving, however once the trays settle no pain doesn't mean its not working.

Re: How painful can invisalign get?
I'm about 2/3 way through my trays and so far, I've found that there is often a bit of soreness in some parts of my gums a day or two after I put in a set of new trays. The soreness is more like a sore muscle rather than "get this out of my mouth" pain, though. I only experienced severe soreness with one set of trays, and that was only in one spot in my gums and it lasted a couple of days. It helps if you put in the new trays at bedtime and take a Tylenol.
Like invizzlerizzle said above, I actually welcome the bit of soreness because it means that things are moving around.
What also helps: looking in the mirror and seeing how much my bite has improved -- totally makes any soreness worth it!

Traditional braces are usually much more painful.
Re: How painful can invisalign get?
Really no pain.
I am on aligner 50 so I think I am an authority now.
Only slight pressure, but pain, no.
Easier than I thought.

Second set of aligners now and little pain in the process.
Well, except in the wallet.
