Re: Inman aligners
Did anyone here DIDNT get their teeth shaven? He wanted to file be theb he took a last look and said that filing isnt really necessary, and didnt file. Now i looked at the forum and people talk about filing as such a necessary part of the treatment... is this highly irregular?

Re: Inman aligners
Just went to my (almost) 3 weeks appointment, and my dentist took pictures, we then compared them and he was shocked by the movement... so i asked him how much time does he estimate i have left. He hated me for asking it, but then he changed his estimation from 12 weeks to 10.
P.s. i looked at the molds of the ending result and there was a U shape, but there were still small gaps... he told me that these are the shape of my canines + i have a broken tooth and if i want to fill those gaps i need to have fillings. Did someone here have fillings after their treatment, and did it make a major difference?

Re: Inman aligners
Hi all.
Had my IA fitted yesterday. Thought I’d share my story so far to help anyone who might be considering getting an IA.
I’ve been considering having treatment for years. It’s a typical story really - had braces as a teenager, didn’t wear retainers for long enough, teeth moved back. I saw my dentist a few weeks back and he took some moulds of my top teeth. It’s only my top 6 front teeth that need treatment, as they protrude outwards. My dentist said this is called an overjet, and an IA would be the quickest and cheapest way to treat it.
Yesterday was the big day. One thing I certainly wasn’t prepared for was the composite blob. I hadn’t read about this anywhere. The dentist explained that he needed to put a blob of cement on my front tooth to help the aligner work. Fair enough I thought, it’s not too noticeable. One thing that makes my case unique is the fact that I don’t need any teeth ‘pushing’ forwards, I just need 6 teeth ‘pulling’ back. Because of this, the dentist said I only need 1 bar in the aligner, so the bar that normally runs across the back of my teeth is not there. I was a bit worried about this at first having read so much about how the IA works with opposing forces, however my dentist has a good reputation so I’m sure it’s fine. Plus, less metal in my mouth can only be a bonus.
The aligner doesn’t look or feel too bad at all. It’s a little sore when I take it out, so I’m aiming for 20 hours a day to avoid taking it out! Having said that I haven’t been into work yet, I’m dreading this. The big issue is my speech. Any word with an ‘S’ ‘TH’ or ‘CH’ in sounds pretty bad. I really hope this improves.
I don’t have to see the dentist again for 5 weeks! I thought this seemed like a long time but he assured me it’s fine. He said it will take 6-12 weeks, but the more I wear the aligner, the quicker it will be.
Here’s hoping the speech gets better! Happy to answer any queries for anyone considering getting an IA :)

Hi mate. Week 11 of my Inman aligner and my teeth are almost straight! I’m amazed. Got an appointment with the dentist on Tuesday, I reckon I’m only a few weeks away from being finished though.
The speech improved massively. Probably took around a month for me to feel totally comfortable speaking with it in at work. I still have a bit of a lisp but I’ve just had to deal with that. Things get easier the further you get into the treatment.
Hope it all goes well for you! (I’m ignoring the #MOT) ;)

Re: Inman aligners
Hi all, just got back from the dentist, here’s where I’m at for anyone who’s interested!
4 weeks to go. He reckons I’ll be all done and dusted in 4 weeks, and he’ll take some impressions for my retainers providing the last little bit of movement happens. He also took the massive composite blob off from my front tooth which was a massive relief!
In total, that would be 15 weeks from start to finish. A bit longer than first predicted, but totally worth it. Would absolutely recommend Inman aligners to anyone considering!

Nice one Eddie, wish I was that far on!
You going for the whitening?

Re: Inman aligners
It'll fly by I had mine on for about 14 weeks and it took me a little while to get used to it, then next thing I knew I was done lol.
I found taking pics every week helped so if I ever got fed up i could compare and see how quick it was actually improving

Don’t think I need any whitening to be honest! And it really does fly by, before you know it you’ll be 6 weeks in and the end will be in sight ha. To be honest it’s starting to drag for me now because I know the end is so near! The first couple of weeks are tough because you don’t really see anything happening, but after around a month I could see the gaps between my front teeth closing up. It’s really satisfying!

Re: Inman aligners
Hi, I'm new to the forum, I'm getting an upper Inman aligner fitted on 29th Oct and I've found reading about your experiences really useful.
I was offered braces on the NHS for crowding in my teens but declined due to concerns over root resorption as I have unusually short rooted teeth anyway and was scared at the prospect of tooth loss.
I've always been really self conscious of my top teeth being crooked, I was looking into veneers having earned some extra cash and stumbled across the Inman aligner which seemed to be a much less destructive and less expensive option with less risk of root problems than the traditional braces I'd been offered as a teen. I am opting for whitening and edge bonding after my Inman treatment.
I am nervous but excited to be taking steps towards putting something right that has bothered me so much for so long!

Today is the day! Getting my Inman aligner fitted this afternoon, eeeeekk!!!!
Re: Inman aligners
Exciting! My biggest tip, take photos every week, so if you're ever getting annoyed with it you've got something motivating to look at! But the next few months will fly by, then you'll have lovely straight teeth Plus before and afters are always welcome here hehe
Re: Inman aligners
Thanks for your reply Turpz 😊
I took "before" photos and will take again each week 👍
I had some filing yesterday which was fine, a strange sensation but not painful or even uncomfortable. I have one composite on the back of the tooth that has to move the furthest.
So far I've been really pleasantly surprised, the brace looks and feels much better than I thought it would and my speech this morning is almost normal again. I have no pain, just a feeling of pressure but it's not really uncomfortable. I go back on 17th December for a check up.
Feeling excited! 😁
