Help! Swollen gums
I got my braces a few months ago and three months ago I got this thing called lingual arch which is basically a wire that is placed in my lower jaw, bellow my teeth and it connects molars that are banded. However, a month ago the flesh around this wire started to get swollen and puffy and now it seems that the skin is growing OVER this damn wire on one part. It also hurts a bit when I brush and it bleeds when I brush the area vigorously. Does anyone know if this is normal? I am scared because the swelling is spreading and I am afraid it is not just a mere swelling but maybe a more serious problem Anyone had anything similar perhaps? I will go to the ortho this week but just want to check here if anyone has any kind of advice in the meantime. Thank you!!
Re: Help! Swollen gums
It sure doesn't sound normal, but then I am not a dentist. I'd be concerned about (1) possible infection and (2) possible allergy to Nickle. I'd set up an appointment with the ortho ASAP. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the reply. I feel something is wrong too. I also think my ortho didn't place this wire properly. It should go like this
Mine on the other hand is placed way lower than the teeth and is constantly digging into my flesh. I am going today without appointment and will refuse to leave until they take this out of my mouth.
