I’ve had braces since December 2016 and my teeth really weren’t that bad to begin with but I had a little bit of over bite and both lateral insicors were turned in, but I’m happy with all the changes! The wait is worth it but..
I went for an appointment last week and my orthodontist said “time to get your braces off” obviously I knew they wouldn’t be taken off the same day he said that because it took me by suprise and there supposed to be check ups before that? I wasn’t even expecting him to say that not did we discuss anything about our braces coming off.. ever? Maybe about 5 months ago when I talked about having them in college but I’ve been patient with my results. It’s just that my teeth DONT look straight at all!! I’m supposed to be getting them off in a month or a little bit less. September 13 they said I get my braces off and retainers the same day. I just don’t want my expectations to be too high. At the rate of the appointment, I have one more and then 2 weeks later I get them taken off.
First Day:

10 Months:

19 Months: WHERE EVERYTHING WAS LOOKING FINE

20 Months: so here is where the problem lies

My right central insicor is now lower than it has been and angled backwards because of the wiring he’s done. It’s like it’s getting pulled down even more and they aren’t even anymore also. And my laterals don’t look straight at all to me either so I have no idea how my braces are coming off in a month, did my orthodontist mess up or does he know what he’s doing? I mean, I trust him he’s a great guy, he wouldn’t mess up.

I feel ya. However, mine have never been perfect, yet, so I am still waiting. One of my central incisors is lower than the other, same for the laterals, and the shorter central incisor is still rotated just a bit, along with one of my laterals on the bottom arch. My midline is fine, bite much improved, but I'm due to get them off in a month, and I'm definitely getting a little worried.
BTW, my ortho originally said 8-10 months, but next month is 13 months! And I think if he had his druthers, he would keep them on even longer, but I have travel plans that can't be changed, so they have simply got to come off next month.
I wish I could reassure you, but all I can suggest is to talk to your ortho and tell him your concerns. Best of luck and keep us posted!

I'd also second the suggestion to call your ortho now and tell him your concerns rather than wait to see what happens until your next appointment. He would be the best person to give you any assurance.

I would also suggest giving them a call. I’ve just been in to see mine as I felt the detailing bends he put in at the last appointment were reversing some of the improvements I’d seen. We disagreed on which side was less in alignment but he acknowledged that what I see and what he sees may be different and at the end of the day they are my teeth and it’s what I see and how I feel that matters. He’s brilliant and I hope you get the same support and understanding from your orthodontist. Good luck.

Hi There- I concur with all that you need to reach out to ortho. I would just call their office and tell them you've got some unexpected and concerning changes that have occurred. When I've done that (several times); the front desk folks just schedule me an appointment.
