Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Finally out of those danged crossbite elastics! Ortho said my crossbite was gone and now time to work on my overbite. Got a new chain (blue this time) and Class II elastics. Will be getting my lingual arch out next appointment and replaced with regular brackets. 19 months in.

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Week and a half into the elastics & they appear to be working. Midline is still off but I think my ortho is fixing my overbite first.

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Got an adjustment last week. Got my lingual arch out on bottom. Also getting a reprieve from rubber bands. Already developing a gap between my bottom front teeth, and still have a stubborn gap between my canine and lateral on one side on top.

Thanks for posting the updates. Good luck on your treatment.
Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Bad news: back in crossbite bands. Ugly news: now in power chains top and bottom; had some nice gaps on bottom that are now going to get closed. Good news: ortho says he's expecting only four more months! Don't have a firm debrace date yet but light at the end of the tunnel is a very good thing.

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Had an adjustment Thursday. Good news: out of the crossbite bands again. Bad news: back in Class II bands. Ugly news: a bracket popped off one of my canines without me knowing it and the tooth moved so back down to a round wire up top. Still in powerchains top and bottom, with a tooth skipped on top to try to close a gap (which is working so far).
I was told 4-6 months at the previous appointment. Hoping the bracket doesn't slow me down too much. I'm so glad I got braces, from that funny tooth not hurting anymore to my teeth looking better but I am ready to get them off.

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Adjusted last week. Back into square wire on top, still in Class II bands though it sounds like I'll eventually have to have crossbite bands again because my molars keep going out. I'll be two years as of later this month. Current estimate is 28 months but if those molars are still an issue I get this feeling it'll be a bit longer. I'll be glad to be done but I'll wear these things as long as I need to in order to get everything right.

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Got adjusted a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't going to update this time with pics, as it was just a band change and upgrade back to a .020x.020 wire. Noticed though that my Class II elastics are working. My lower jaw has come forward and it looks like my midline issue is resolving itself as well.

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Just trying to fix the overbite now per my ortho. That said, those gaps between the laterals and canines are opening up again. Hopefully that won't be a huge issue to fix.

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Rubber bands are opening up gaps again, and the overbite isn't going anywhere yet. Somehow don't think it'll be just a couple of months.
Also noticed one of my second molars is off a bit. I do not have brackets on them. May ask if those need to be/can be fixed. May add several more months to the plan but I would rather take more time and get things right; I really haven't had problems with my braces.

Hi I have just found and read your posts even if not all of them yet, I have seen your improvements and I must say that I am really very happy for you.
As I told you before, I haven't finished reading your posts yet but I wanted to ask you if the Damon System could also have it white?
Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Yes, there is a Damon Clear which I believe is actually white. There are a few other self-ligating clear bracket systems. My ortho I think only offers the metal but there are clear self-ligating brackets.

Re: Finally doing it! Damon braces for bite issues
Should update you all. Still in braces. Now upgraded to heavy Class II bands on each side. Still having some issues with gaps between my centrals and laterals, and laterals and canines. 31 months in and no debrace date for sure. Also have a molar out of place I think, will bring it up at my next appointment. Not sure if it's the first or second that is not where it needs to be, or if I'm just seeing things.
