Elastics Between Jaw After Jaw Surgery

I had jaw surgery last wednesday on my upper jaw as it was moved forward 1cm. one of the elastics broke that are in place between my upper and lower jaws. i rang up my surgeon rooms and they told me to come in next week for one the surgeons to look at it. im kinda worried about it. can any one relate to this as i want to make sure my jaw is healing properly?

Hi - I can't relate to it yet because I haven't had my surgery but I would assume that your bones are held together with plates and screws since you were banded shut and not wired. This probably means that one elastic breaking out of a mouthful of them isn't be such a big deal.

If you're really worried about it though you might want to call your surgeon back or go to a family doctor for help.
