Hi all,
I got braces on 11/17 for cross bite on the left side causing gaps on my two front teeth (upper central) as well as crooked upper left lateral and gap between the upper left lateral and upper let cuspid.
I have always wanted to get them fixed all my life. 5 years ago I braces I went for an evaluation...shy'd away I guess I was not ready for them and stuck with bonding.
I had some bonding to conceal it 5 years ago. They looked great but after a few years (3 years) the bonding starts showing and I am self concious about it and I did not want to change it every few years. High Maintenance ! I was looking for a permanent solution.
At the end of the treatment I may need some bonding for a small chip on the upper left lateral, but will wait and see for the end results. Once teh gaps close it may just look fine.
Well on the road to the teeth that I have always wanted....
Picture #1 of teeth on the day of getting braces.
Picture # 2 of teeth on the day of getting braces...Notice the large left cuspid (has bonding on it to close the gap). Upper left lateral has some bonding to straighten the tooth and close gap as well as fix a small chip at the bottom.
Picture # 3 of teeth on the day of getting braces. Got some bonding between the upper centrals. You do notice it after a few years.
After these pictures I went for my braces...I am sure you have heard all the stories on how they go on.....everything went as expected. He then removed most of the bonding....ouch...after a 1 week my cuspid is still sore...yes there was a lot of bonding....
Here is me on day 1 with braces:
Picture #1 with braces - 1st day. Yup there is that gap and crooked upper left central and upper left cuspid (part of the crossbite profile)
Picture #2 with braces another shot at a different angle- 1st day
Picture #3 with braces. You can't see the gap between my 2 fron teeth ...I don't think he finished removing the bonding there (he wants to do it slowly for because I asked so it won't be too noticeable). I also think I have saliva between my 2 teeth...lol...sorry
Well that's it for now...Thanks for all your support. I'll take new pictures on the day of my first adjustment....

Actually...they were a bit tender..and sometimes are. Not so bad. I was expecting worse. Maybe they'll get me on my next visits. I just feel sore in the areas that need work. Wich is a good sign.
What about you? How are you feelinge Any pictures?
By the way we were braced on the same day...about the same time..I think

Well, because I have four gold crowns on the next to the last molars, they had to delay putting braces on the last two teeth in each row. Otherwise, I am doing good. The one bad spot that the brace was rubbing almost raw has finally healed and I am able to go without wax. He basically moved my front teeth in and adjusted the height this time. I was sore for about 3 days. I expect the first adjustment on Jan 10th will be a winner as far as pain. More braces and start expanding the arch with a firmer arch wire.
As for pictures, I don't know how to get them on here. Can you walk me through it?
Thanks, Attagirl
