the dreaded W arch
That stinks about the W arch. How long did your ortho say she wanted to wait? Or is it just a wait and see kind of thing? Hope everything goes a little better soon.

Thanks, KK and Holly!
My ortho definately doesn't like any "how long?" questions of mine, that much I've learned so far Anyway, she said it may be two archwires away. I'm getting a stronger one in 6 weeks. I don't know how long they want to use that one, another 6 weeks maybe, maybe longer? After that stage I'll be getting an even stronger wire and that is when it should be possible to say goodbye to the w arch. That could be early next year rather than this year.

I just updated my photo gallery at:

The rebellious left lateral has been behaving nicely lately and the uppers are finally looking like, well, proper teeth.
Warning: stained powerchain Could not resist the call of the Nepalese kitchen last weekend.

Joplin!!! Your smile is so beautiful! It's amazing how that powerchain really moved the process along huh?
That Nepalese dinner sounds interesting. Never eaten Nepalese food myself.

Update, adjustment #6:
Ding dong, the w arch is gone! My ortho just took it out and boy am I happy she did! So good to have my mouth back!
I also got a new 0.16 square wire on top with a powerchain and a new wire on bottom with wire ties. The ortho's assistant said the square wire is used to start moving the upper teeth from the roots now. The first couple of wires have just aligned the teeth. Here we go!

Hi Joplin,
still here, still checking from time to time about your progress.
I really want to congratulate you ! You are doing GREAT !!
And now that W arch that is gone. Hmmm, a small step for orthodontists,
but a giant leap for ... ehhh ... Joplin. Got that arch back home ? Any
idea what to do with that item ? BTW, have you seen my most recent pics
I posted in the section 'ask the doc' ?

Hmmm, usually orthos retain every appliance due to forensic issues.
But if it would be me I would celebrate some ritual burning, Joplin.
That's what we no-more-dental-students plan to do with our worn-out dental stuff.
