Filling and NUMBNESS

#1 Post by blue-eyed-girl »

Hi all...been braces free for 'bout 5.5 yrs. But was does suck is I have to have 2 fillings this Wed (one b/c the filling came out & I have a temp).

I SO hate it b/c of the numbness. They always say it will go away after 1-2 hrs...nope..not me...maybe after 5-6 hrs it begins to go away. I think it also doesn't help is that he ends up having to give me more novocaine b/c i can feel the drill (he sees my eyes & my face tense).

Anyone else have this numbness issue? How is I'm numb that long....that's the worst part!!! I hate that I have to go back to work too...

Last time i just took the rest of the day off work...but this time my appt is at 11 am...i'll be done by 1 (it takes 1.5 hrs...but he's always so damn busy I know it'll take longer). This was the only time slot they had...& it took almost 2 months to get it...grr

Ya....so it's been 6 hrs since the shots and I AM STILL NUMB. They had to give me 3.....guess I'm just sensitive.

ALSO...i was there for 3 hrs..i was told 1.5 but he was running behind (seems to always be running behind the past few times i've been there)

Yea...and i have an old cavity on the other side that is decaying...so have to get a new filling in that one.....blah

I had this happen to my last year when I was getting my fillings done. However, in the midst of my Novocaine being given, I felt this horrendous shock that surged all the way out to the center of my bottom lip. I jumped, the dentist jumped.

Fast forward. Waking up the next morning, I still had no feeling in the majority of the left half of my face. I called the dentist. Turns out she hit a nerve and did some damage. It generally comes back, but can take up to 6 months. It took about 2 months for mine to come back fully. It really sucked.

Did you call them and mention the prolonged numbness?
