Hey Jay!

That is SUCH exciting news!!!!! Just another month!!!! WOW!

Very interesting about the Vivera. I really haven't started my retainer homework as I am probably another year away, but that sounds like an excellent option. I also would like a retainer that I can use to whiten my teeth once in a while, I wonder, can you do this with the Vivera or does it compromise the integrity of the plastic?
i do want the vivera as i do not want ANY metal in my mouth after these braces are off! hahah
 I'd feel the same way 'cept I'd have to get my fillings replaced!
Braced 5-30-07 for 18-24 months
In-Ovation Uppers, Metal Lowers, TPA upper arch, Lower Lingual arch, no elastics.
100% Deep Bite, Crowding, Over Extrusion
BSSO & Genio surgery June 4th '08!

im kinda glad i dont have to ge tthe bonded retainers for a couple of reasons 1_ flossing will be much easier! 2) dental checkups will go a lot smoother without the wire getitng in the way.

my teeth dont look as PERFECT rite now as i thought. i guess bc i had a different vision of what my teeth would turn out like. everyones teeth are shaped and positioned differently so yea. they are going to shave a bit off my incisors so they are all leveled and hopefully that will mke things look a lot better. also, i find that even teeth ready to be debraced will look a bit off when the wire is on but once its off youre like "wow" . i had a coworker had her braces off and it looked totaly diff in terms of alignment than when she had them on the day before.

so i went in for an emergency checkup because my lower central incisors seem to be slightly inward... my debrace date is on the 18th, so i decided to make an appt just in case... good thing i did.. the ortho said he was glad i came in and changed the wire tie into a super tite lig.. the wire tie probably has not been changed since post op and was losing its strength.. within hours that tooth has rotated back to place :).. less than a week away!! he also shaved my lower incisors so they were all level and they look great!!! gonna get my uppers shaved/reshaped when i get debraced next week woot woot!! its coming to an end!

JayC and Loulou!

How exciting! I can't believe it just around the corner for you both.

I would grovel and plead if I had to in order to see de-braced photos of the new pearly white smiles! Can't wait!

so no change in debanding date... my ortho said he will just adjust my retainer to accomodate for my central left incisor that is a whee off. but that same incisor i think i will need get checked out by my dentist... its a very slight grey thats not really noticeable unless you look for it.. i think there may be nerve damage to taht tooth and probably will need a canal down the road. another headache but it could be worse... its the money to fix it thats giving me issues more than anything lol.. oh well. ill keep a close eye on it and im gonna make sure i see the dentist soon after debanding.

i know it sounds bad but i havent seen my family dentist in probably 5-6 years lol. ive never had complications with cavities etc and i dont know what oculd have caused the tooth to slowly die other than the ortho treatment itself causing too much trauma to that tooth. but yea ill keep you guys updated and ill be sure to pose pics after monday!

i am pleased. i cant believe theyre off. i just got the essix retainers and they feel weird.. especially at first. but ive had them on for about 30 mins and im getting used to them. im def in need to get used to not having this lisp with them on. i was told by my ortho that i onl need to wear it ful time for 3 mths, then evening/night after.. so the last 12-16 hours of my day which is good news.

i have another appt in abotu 3 weeks where im supposed to get another mold done for my vivera retainers but i thik i might actually go the bonded retainer route forotu 6 mths. then get those for night time only.

i had a general idea of what i would expect. but as it was near debrace date it looked like my teeth werent what i envisioned them to be. i was a bit dissapointed but man, do they ever look TOTALLY different when the brackets are off!

Oh jayc---They look FABULOUS!!!! "Tada!" is right. Your teeth do look so much different (larger and nicer) Glad to hear the debanding was a breeze. Did they have to do much grinding to get the adhesive off?

So if I understand it, you have opted for invisilign the first 3 months, the bonded 4-6 months, then vivera for night time from then on? Did your ortho offer that as an option? And do you pay out of pocket for the additional 2 types of retainers? It sounds like a really good plan!

SOOOOOOOO happy for you!!!!! And thanks for sharing the photos! IT is so inspiring to follow your story and see your results!

thanks adantae!!

ummm im on essix rite now. and was supposed to be on the vivera thereafter... im prescribed to wear my retainers full time for 3 months then nightly/evening. BUT i am probably going to opt for the bonded on the bottom for the full time periods THEN go to the vivera for overnite use. i was never using invisalign but my essix lower has been activated to rotate a stubborn lower incisor which has already done its job.. thats probably what you got confused with butyea.

i did get my teeth polished and shaped because as you can see from the previous pics they were quite jagged and rounder.

id liek to mention.. oddly. . i do miss my braces lol
