Congrats on your braces! Your smile does not look like it belongs to a 50 year old!

*Alee* Thanks. My smile may not look like a 50 year old, but Rhibee knows what I look like and I don't look quite as young as my smile :pinkbraces:

*Rhibee* Thanks for the good wishes. Thinking about teal and orange for a beachy feel- not quite sure what do you think?

*Tobilei* Thanks :)

Had 3rd adjustment today. Got a powerchain on uppers and wire ties on most of the rest of my brackets (3 have red ligs). This is really messing with my whole color thing.

Boy am I sore!!!! tons of ibuprofen today.

IPR to make some room and the best part.....

Orthodontist's best guess when I asked how long I had left was 8 months!!!

I was originally given a 16-18 month estimate, now I'm down to 12!!!

I'm going to go take a nap... will post updated pics in the next day or so.

Just caught up and boy does your story sound familiar. I'm younger and only have my expander in right now but taking a half hour to clean and not even for the actual teeth -- what fun braces are going to be!

Good luck! :jump:

Not a lot new to report. I have noticed that my teeth "clack" together during the night more. It's kind of annoying and when I wake up my bottom front teeth are sore.

I am thinking about asking ortho how necessary all the hooks on my brackets are as they are shredding the inside of my mouth (particularly on the lower left) I apply wax and it does help some but then I end up swallowing the wax. By the time I get out of braces they will have to do surgery to get the candle that I am building out of my stomach. All I have to do is swallow a wick LOL

Just checking in. Not much going on in my braces saga-not a lot of movement, just the usual discomfort. I am ready to be done. I still have a good attitude about it all, but I am ready to be finished with this part of my life. I want to eat like a normal person again. I want to go diving without worrying about losing my regulator at 60 feet because my teeth hurt or I have a goofy problem with my bite at the wrong time, I am tired of having my teeth clack together in the night and either waking me up or waking up in the morning with my teeth and jaws aching from the night time clacking. These are just a few of the things I think about. With that all said I would still do it over again given the choice. just need to vent a bit. only 7 or so months to go.....

hi Deb!

WOW progress pics look fantastic!!! Sorry I only saw the comment about the teal and orange ligs too!

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN! I have days where i wish these things would just come off so i could eat normal things and eat crackers and not have to explain why i cant eat them *sigh* OMG YES i wake up most mornings with my front teeth all clenched to my bottom brackets at the moment.... It is NOT NICE and so so sore... used to be my back molars clenching but now its the front teeth cos of the elastics i think... its horrible. I feel like i am going to snap a bracket off... i spoke to my ortho about smacking my top teeth on the bottom brackets but he didnt say much about it and that only i wont chip a tooth unless its really really whacked and im like hrmmm...

some days its all hard work... other days i just think about the end result and take it a day at a time!

Next time i have an adjustment i am going to ask how long they think i have left!! that is so great that you only have 7 months left!!! you are so lucky!!!! that will come so fast :) :)

Crossing my fingers for you Rhibee- I am in a funk right now with these darn things- I just want my life back. I know it worth it but right now I would just like to be able to eat like a normal adult human being. :-+

I haven't really noticed much change in the last 3 weeks- other than the power chains hurt like he double toothpicks!

I'm also over 50. I put light blue on top. The dark color make look like you have something stuck in your teeth and the red ones look like bleeding. They say putting lighter colored make your teeth look whiter.

I'm also told I don't look my age or act it. More like 30. I'm Assistant Scoutmaster and the kids are getting a kick out it that someone that old is in braces, so I'm having fun with them as well. going Sept 11 for my first wire change and change to some new color.

Hey Deb, looking good! I hear you on just wanting these darn things off already! I miss being able to chew properly!!! My 14 year old got hers off a couple of weeks ago and she keeps telling me that you really can't chew properly when they're on. But I'm definitely over it all! Hang in there! Hopefully it'll all be worth it when they're off!
