Hi there Joele!
Me personally I would give the nasty witches a BIG HUGE brace-face SMILE!
But then again, I'm just evil....
Stick with those who will support you, and ignore the poo-heads.
Sounds like your attitude is getting back on track - yahoo!
"Don't let the turkeys get you down" - a timely saying to remember esp around Thanksgiving!!!

Thanks everyone, your suggestions have helped. I take one day at a time. The women that have made rude comments to me could use braces themselves, really it's no joke! Well..on a positive note, I can tell some of my teeth have moved already it hasn't been 2 weeks yet.
Sorry you've encountered such rudeness Joele. I'm in the UK where braced adults are a rare sight, but apart from one work mate saying "why spend all that money on your teeth when you could get run over by a bus tomorrow?", I've had no disparaging comments at all. Most people I know just ask me things like "how's it going" or "how much longer will you have them on?" or else just pay no attention. Whether people talk behind my back or not I have no idea, but then I don't really care.
Any rude comments I had would probably be met with "mind your own f*cking business", but so far I have not had to resort to smackdowns of this kind.
I agree with the other posters that it's probably jealousy on these peoples' part. Seeing you in braces has probably made them more conscious of their own wonky teeth, yet they don't have the guts to tackle it themselves. It's easier to try and bring other people down to their level. Rise above it, and flash that smile, especially after you eventually get them off and have beautiful straight white teeth

Wow I am really sorry and saddened to hear that people would be that childish. I have been lucky so far that people have either not commented or have said encouraging things. I have been told by people that they make me look cute(aka like a teenager lol). Most of my friends are proud of me for actually going thru with it.
My advise is to ignore the ignorance and surround yourself with good friends who care.
