I wore the bottom for about 9 mo. and the top for 1.1 years. Interestingly, at one of my adjustments my orhto's superior questioned whether my ortho installed the nance without considering whether I actually needed it or not. Wearing the nance wasn't the worst experience but it certainly wasn't fun, so be sure to ask if you really need a nance or not before an ortho puts it in.

I wish I would've kept a "profile foto journal" to keep track of the changes. I definitely felt the changes when my ortho put on the largest rectangular wire. That's when my teeth started to upright/stand up straight. I could feel my bottom lip sinking in; almost like I was sucking on it  .
Thanks for the feedback, I too will be getting a nance, but only for the top.

I am a black female in braces since Sept. 2006, but Im not sure if I have that b-word you'r talking about, lol. However, most ortho's ive seen wanted to extract up to 4 of my teeth AND break and reset my jaw. I was NOT down for that and have subsequently found two ortho's who came up with better solutions.

Hi, I'm black but I don't have an overbite ANYMORE. I had braces and extractions when I was younger. I had 4 teeth pulled in all, 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. They were actually able to close 3 of the gaps but not the 4th one, which is the reason I'm in braces again. I actually have just the opposite problem; I don't have enough teeth for the size of my bite, so because the 2 teeth on each side of my front teeth are too small, my ortho is going to leave spaces beside these 2 teeth to, for one thing, build them out and make them normal size, and for two, to "fill in" my bite, if that makes sense.

I'm an over 40 African American male and decided to get my teeth fixed and my profile improved. Here is a link to a case with extractions and miniscrews that you may find interesting.

Hi Im a 35 year old black female. I did not require any extractions. All of my wisdom teeth have already been removed years ago. My problem is mild crowding.
