I use a hook. It takes some experimenting to find the right locations to use the hook to slowly pop the aligner off. I have 5 attachments up top and 5 on the bottom, mostly on canines and premolars. On the lowers I pull up on the left molar area just a little then pull up near the left canine a little, then I go back to the molar and pull it all the way off. So I'm saying you need to experiment because everyone is different.

My lower aligners used to crack near the canine. I think it was because the canine was turned and packed so tightly next to the other tooth, that it put a lot of stress on the aligner to bend at that point when pulling it off. Since the canines straightened out, I haven't had the problem with it cracking.

I know this sounds crazy but, I asked for attatchments! When I first got my aligners my ortho only want to put the buttons on my two bottom teeth and just obmit the four that were supposed to be on top. My teeth were (are) moving so quickly that on my 1st tray was starting to come off my second day! So, I begged my ortho to put the other four on my top teeth so that my trays would stay on. At first I hated taking my trays off because they were really on there and I didn't want to force them off along with the button so, I just used my ART device (dentakit.com) to take them off at first and that was a HUGE help! But now I've gotten used to taking them on and off with easy and only use my ART tool when I'm in a public place and don't want to put my hands in my mouth due to germs (yes, even after washing my hands). Plus I noticed that my teeth were moving even quicker with the attachments on! Hope this helps

OK little update

So I changed 4 days early with my new aligners – this works well as I’m in China next week with work so it means they will be in well over a week on the flight and at client meals etc.

I have started using a handkerchief to take off the top ones (for grip) and this works well – I am still doing it from the other side – seems to work better, as soon as it’s over the first attachment it pops off – I’m definitely being more cautious but it seems a lot easier so hopefully in a few days it will be very simple
