Getting braced tomorrow!
Moderator: bbsadmin
^_^ Hi, i've just been braced too.
Hi all! Congrats on getting your braces. I've been braced for about a month now. I hope i can offer some great tips for you for the next couple of days.
First: Buy a manual toothbrush. The next couple of days are going to be very tender and I couldn't use my electronic toothbrush for squat! (You'll be able to use it soon, just the first few days are going to feel like a horse kicked in you in the mouth).
Secondly: By a non-alcoholic mouthwash - the ulcers you're going to get are going to be sore enough!
Thirdly: Purchase some babies teething gel: Like Bonjela or a similar pharmaceutical branch. (I live by this stuff I swear!).
If you have any more questions or just need someone to rant too, email me! karlene.fisher@gmail.com.
Hope you all are feel good!

Hi Kharmynn
Just wanted to add another warm welcome. This site is great & so are the cool people on here. Congrats on getting your braces. I'm way close behind you - I'll be getting braced this week too - second time for me. I'm so nervous & excited I feel like a newbie! Looks like you have another brace buddy here, too!

mikesmile: Welcome to the club
Good luck on your upcoming brace day. It will be great to have one more person to compare notes with.
kvphi: Thanks for the tips! My mouth is getting into the sore all over deal already.
Don't be surprised if I take you up on that offer of a question/rant buddy.
deano306: I know how you feel. I went on my first outing today at the grocery store and felt like everyone was looking at me. I'm sure like anything though, we'll get used to it. I guess just be glad it's not your whole mouth like me...

Hope everyone's bracing is going well!
I know right now you are probably feeling like a horse has kicked you in the teeth; so I'm here to offer a little support.
Oatmeal, mash potato, smoothies (including the vegetable kind), yoghurt, soups, and fish! (I found this a great way to get my vitamins and healthy food and the fish is small enough to fall apart in your mouth!).
Oh! I'm 21 by the way and I was officially braced: 16th December! I'm also from England.
If you need any advice or anything - let me know!

I actually ate yogurt and soups all day yesterday. This morning I had oatmeal, had a smoothie later on, and having mashed potatoes with meatloaf for dinner.....

My sister recommended that I buy the Oragel mouthwash with peroxide for sores. It is really nice stuff. She also recommended Benzodant (also great) and a lot of wax at night if you are a side sleeper on the side where your face is on the pillow.
It was really nice that my sister went first in the braces department, especially since I am the older one. She gave me lots of help, including finding this board.
I had no trouble with my electric toothbrush, even though my teeth were sore.
Good luck to all of us!

Aw! come on!
I know this is going to sound a little strange - but braces are seen as quite sexy these days!!! There's nothing wrong with smiling. Be proud of your braces! they say "I can cope with stupid amounts of pain and still smile! I am magnificent, bask in my glory!"
Note: I am not vain! XD I just have a sense of humour!!
