I think the "clenching" may actually be the elastics doing their work in bringing your bite together. I used to be able to sleep with my mouth open, but since getting elastics... and even with them OUT... my teeth automatically bite down together. I don't think it will inhibit any progress.fraid090 wrote:I didn't want to start a whole new thread just for my question so if you don't mind I'll just tag it on the end of yours...
Since getting braces I have been waking up clenching my teeth - I have an overbite/jet, have had upper premolar extractions and wearing elastics - just wondering if my clenching will inhibit the progress made by elastics?.

Re: Elastics Questions...
I didn't think to ask about length when I got my braces last week. I think I was too overwhelmed by all of the stuff they were putting in! So, BracesBlonde has me wanting my comfort check appt at 2 weeks to hurry up, because I am wearing elastics on one side for a crossbite. Am hoping it won't be six months or more.

I was given the heavy Japan 6mm (1/4") rubber bands 6 months into my treatment. I have to wear them 24/7 except for when I brush and I think I'll have them on at least a year.
