In my experience 10 days off would be about the minimum. I had 10 days off after SARPE and probably could have used another week. I could function but I was exhausted by the end of the day. It takes a bit of time to recover from the anesthetic and to build back up strength. I found that I healed quickly but talking with the expander in was difficult and surprisingly tiring. I was constantly catching my tongue on it! Very frustrating. A graduated return to work (4-6 hrs/day for the first couple of weeks back) would be best.

I’m currently in intensive care unit after my sarpe. Had pterygoid venous bleeding and back to theatre. I’m feeling terrible. Swelling horrendous. And I’ve been advised at least two weeks off work.
