What helps is icecream! It makes everything a bit numb, but I cant live off that and dont want to gain weight.

Try not to get too stressed! Lots of people on here didn't feel a thing when they got theirs on. Some of us feel a LOT, others nothing at all. I guess everyone in this thread just happens to be part of the "a lot" crowd :(

It's really not that terrible :) first few days are a bit rough, but keep up the painkillers and you'll be fine. Some people really struggle, most just have a few uncomfortable days :)

A few? I'm on day 5 and still can't chew. I called my ortho and they said it's not normal to be in pain this long. They said give it the weekend. and if not better by monday, then call back.

I couldn't chew properly for nearly 2 weeks. After 8 days I could manage some bread and scrambled eggs. A bit of overcooked pasta. That was about it. I thought I'd never eat again. At 2 weeks they still hurt, but not quite as bad and I could chew most foods. Steak was off the menu for at least a month, chicken breast for nearly 3 weeks.

Even after an adjustment I still find I can't chew for at least 4 days. Nothing like when I first got them on though. I think some of us are just worse.

Good idea to go get checked out just in case though. You have my empathy :(

Everyone's different and we all have different pain tolerances too. I had 2 sore days when I first had them put on but nothing major. This last adjustment caused almost a week of suffering, but it does get better.
