It's been 14 weeks since my braces were put on and I had my third wire put in today! I asked my ortho about the gum puffiness and he said that's normal and that i just need to be a little more aggressive with the toothbrush when I brush. I think I need to be a little bit better about brushing after every meal as I starting getting a little lazy and only brushing once or twice a day since I was using my water flosser (that thing gets so much crap out, I am sure my teeth would be suffering without it).
The wire that got put in today is a square wire instead of a round one like the last one. The assistant warned me that this one would hurt more than any of the others since this wire is taking up all of the space in the bracket and is able to apply more force. My ortho also said that this wire would be doing a lot of work and it has a lot of "oomph". They also increased my elastics from Parrot to Dolphin, which have a little bit more tension.
I can say that my teeth already feel sore from this morning... not looking forward to how they are going to feel tomorrow, but it's nice to feel like something's actually happening!
My next appt is on August 21st in 8 weeks.

Wow that looks like good progress. It's always motivating to see results and that you're making progress. After the first few months the changes appear less dramatic, but still doing alignments that aren't as obvious, so hang in there.

ur gummy smile is ok. i wouldn't do surgery even if the braces couldn't fix it. but luckily, you can fix it by braces only.
