Denise - Merry Christmas, Happy New Year which will it be?
Moderator: bbsadmin
Hi Denise
I'm diggin' the silver ligs...they look cool. Your son must think it's neat to be sharing the process with you.
I use a dental rinse called Plax before brushing to help with the plaque and whatnot. No complaints from the dentist as of yet. Not sure if you have that in the States or not.
p.s. I didn't realize it got so cold down there or is it pretty unusual?

Don't you hate it when they tell you that you'd better start doing something and you already are??? At my last visit, my dentist told me to quit drinking so much soda and juice. All I ever drink is water... Nothing but.
Looks like you are making some good improvements there. It must be exciting. I definitely like the colored ligs. You going to try more colors at your next adjustment? I think on my next one I'm going to try blue.
Happy flossing!

I had same stuff on my second upper laterals, which are somewhat overlapping the first ones. One corned of my second laterar got whiter and subsequently chipped away. The tooth looks ok now, but when it is straightened I have to bond it...Where my uppers ovelapped there are raised white spots that look like calcifications on my laterals. I'm not so sure they can be scraped off?

I started using the ProActive facial system. It's a process in itself, but has also been worth it. Has anyone else tried it?
I did a while ago...when it was like 50 bucks...bleh...now its like $20 or something like that? I don't know. But it worked for a while, when I stopped or skipped a washing seems like my skin went haywire. I think it was just too strong for me, but shockingly enough, being african-american I got slightly sunburned on my cheeks. Anyways...it still worked good. Now I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin...it works well also...
Glad you got the pokey hook taken care of...

Annnywho...so have you tried that waterpik yet? I'm assuming it's cordless?
Question...Do you swallow the disclosing tablets or spit them out?

Pokey things in your mouth are never fun. Glad you got that sorted out. I finally got a Waterpik too (forgot to mention that in my story) and its working out pretty good. It's still not helping with my stink band though. It's still stinky. Since it had to charge for 16 hours sounds like you got the same cordless one that I have. I hope you like it. I got mine from Target (glad I'm not the only one that calls it Targe'
) and it was about $30 if I remember correctly. So when you need to replace yours keep that in mind. Enjoy your girls night out!

My stinky band has gotten a LOT better. First of all I stopped chewing on that side for about a week, then I made sure to brush and rinse even more...which was difficult at times. My waterpik came with an orthodontic tip. It has a little fine brush on the end. It was a LIFESAVER!!! It so totally helped...I used a lot of the water in the tank to wash and re-wash. I was getting so sick of that taste and smell and even MORE sick of them telling me there was nothing wrong that they could see of. Just cuz you can't see it don't mean it ain't there. I know what I tasted and smelled. And knew I wasn't imagining things...I even tried Tim's little finger smell trick...LOL...
I can still smell it when I floss sometimes but it's not as bad as before...I started chewing on that side again, so we will see what happens with that...

I only smell it when I floss now, but it still bothers me because it shouldn't smell at all. It bothers me that there is something in there and it's damaging my teeth. But they told me it's definately not loose and stuff is just in there, but obviously the stuff isn't coming out. Arrggg it's so frustrating!
Sorry for the discussion on your story Denise... hope your waterpik prevents any band problems like mine and turrrtlelove's

YAY WATERPIK!!!...haha...hope it does you justice on blasting those gribblies away...

I know better now after getting burnt, the moisterizer I use now has sunscreen in it, must be why it's so frakin' expensive. Have you tried that mask thing they have? It smells like sulphur but works well...

hi denise ive enjoyed reaading your story so far!
Its interesting what you say about you facial features softening , i too wonder what my lips will look like after as i also have an overjet(7mm).
My top teeth make my lower lip jut out so its very exciting to see the progress.
You sound like your coping well and taking it all in your stride which is excellent

Hey, Denise! Glad to see the mention of effect on your facial features. I'm surprised you're noticing a change so quickly.
I've got an overjet, but my upper teeth don't squash my lowers b/c poor contact in my molars holds my bite open! I do have to stretch my lips to cover my teeth though. I think it's like what you described. I've noticed some odd contours to my face and wonder if it's the result of doing this over time. Ditto for the jaw muscles. I figured it'd take YEARS to see any change here.
Your experience gets me excited that more and sooner is possible!
